One of the best beers I've had, ever. Pop the cap, and aromas of raisins and lavender rise from the bottle. Oh the fruity aroma!! Pours a darkish yellow, somewhat murky. Starts sweet, finishes sweeter. Very, very smooth, silky mouthfeel. This is a very complicated beer. I can't place all the flavors and aromas I sense, but they are most pleasing.

If you like a thick foamy head this is the beer for you. It's dark brown in color and has the aroma of malt. I found the mouthfeel to be a little thin. And the flavor to be a little mild with hints of malt and not much else. It's smooth but not very impressive.

Nice black with off white foam head, lacing. Of course it was evening dark, so couldn’t have much other color. Aroma is caramel dominated. Taste is not too sweet, some bitterness. Perfect beer for drinking while eating "Moule Frite". (Antwerp 201309)

Pours a dark brown with a bubbly tan head that reduces to a lasting thin cap leaving some lacing. Weak sweet yeasty aroma. Taste has a nice malt sweetness, yeast, raisin and a hint of chocolate. Medium body and mouthfeel with a little carbonation. Quite dry. Enjoyable

Probably my favorite Belgian beer, it was my gateway to all the others so I might have some bias to it. It is one of the best looking, great dark ruby brown, clear and sparkling. The aroma and flavor are just enough like regular beer to make nearly anyone try it and the dark fruits are just enough to make you curious enough to try as many other belgians as you can find.

Poured into it's glass, showing a dark red, brownish colour with a huge, frothy head, made out of big and small bubbles. Nice carbonation going on in the glass and the head lasts the entire drinking expierence. Aroma has malty hints, with an undertone of armomatising herbs. Flavour has the matls present, alongside with some plums, blackberries and kandi sugar. With a little bit of improvising and imagination, you'll be able to find some chocolate. Incredibly soft and well balanced brew to drink. Really nice beer to enjoy a bit chilled, next to a fireplace while there is a storm going on outside.

nice aroma and great flavor. worthy of it's perch atop the style. slightly different and more complex than most or all dubbles i've had before, but hard to put a finger on. maybe more dark fruit and or a touch of vanilla in the flavor, yeast and sweet malts. deeeelicious. thanks John, this one's a winner.

Very worthy of the title of the best Abbey Dubbel on the planet. A greet looking beer which pours a solid reddish brown with a 1" brown head. Sweet malt, dark fruit, toffee, and yeast make up the aroma. The flavour is sweet malt, some spicy yeastiness, and a nice bitter finish. A great great beer!

I was expecting a boring brown beer after reading the label, but this was a tasty treat. It pours a medium-brown with reddish hints into the glass, clear, and has a huge tan coloured head. The aroma is roasted malt, ripe fruit, and butterscotch. The taste is sweet malt, butterscotch, and ends with a slightly bitter end.

This beer pours a reddish brown color with a tan head that leaves pretty quick and leaves very little lacing, the only downside to this beer was the aroma, it was sweet but it had a hint of rotting smell that went away thought after being exposed to the air for a couple minutes, the taste is what you would expect from a belgian dubbel, it was sweet but not to sweet, very hearty malty flavor but surprise was that it finished with a slight hop taste. Good beer.

I never thought I'd give a brown ale such a ranking being somewhat averse to the browns... What a shocking pleasant surprise - changed my mind about what a brown ale could be... deep, rich color, thick creamy tan head and a smooth, sweet - but not too sweet - flavor. Everything I wanted.
