A friend gave this to me. It poured a medium brown with a thick white head heavy lacing and good legs. The aroma was of malt with hints of spice. Mild carbonation yielded mild mouth feel. The balance was outstanding. Even at 8% the alcohol balanced well. My wife and I paired this with a roast of beef and veg using the ale as the starch. It was amazing.

Pored our a deep amber/red pour, pale creamy head, thinning quickly.Aurora is of bread, nuts and bananas.Taste is of light molasses, black coffee bitterness on the back.Well balanced and incredibly drinkable for a Christmas ale.

Dark ruby, brown almost, with huge lacing, lasting light brown foam head. Aroma is muffled by foam head, but clearly malty caramel with some light smokey notes. Taste some wheat little spicy, but mainly malty caramel again. (Velp 201405)

It pours a very dark-brown and burnt-orange with a thick and foamy light-tan head and copious lacing. A slightly rich aroma of roasted malts, raisins, coffee, chocolate, prunes, oranges and citrus, and spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth, silky, and rich. Flavors of roasted malts, hops, coffee, chocolate, raisins and prunes, orange and citrus, nuttiness, root beer and cola, vanilla, and zest and spiciness. Superb!

This is as good as the regular pater with fuller body and more flavor. Very plummy, as expected. Great fruity yeasty aroma, jumps out of the glass. I would rather drink this than a lot of other belgians, it should not be reserved for just Christmas. It's what I always imagined Christmas would taste like.

figured i better get this winter ale drunk before it gets too warm. unique malt quality and feel, like the pater, but with a touch more body and the presence of some nice spices as well. dark, fruity, hint of ginger? a touch of hops and a little dry yeast in the finish. maybe the new standard for belgian christmas.

A dark brown colored beer with a big frothy textured off white head rising above. Great hang time and healthy lacing of splotchy light film on the sides of the glass and thin soapy ringlet atop the body. Aromas of sweet malt, sour yeast and spices rise to the nose. Sweet malt and grapes are in the flaving. High alcohol content in a medium bodied smooth ale.

This is the Christmas Beer of Christmas Beers. A beautiful shimmering dark brown in the glass with a 2" brown head that stuck around longer than the beer. The flavour was dark malt, caramel, ginger, and sweet fruits. The flavour was complex and delicious. The sweetness of the malt and sugars are well balanced by the spices and the hops. I like....I really like.

Another delightful brew featured on tap at the Malt House in Madison: Pours a clear copper colour with a decent sized head. Warm and fruity with tropical jelly like notes on the palate. Aroma is pretty nice, spicey notes, yeast, marmelade and apples on the nose. Fancy beer for a fancy night. Happy Nude YEar!

Pours an orangish brown with about to fingers of foam what head that hangs around and leaves good lacing. The aroma has a nice malty goodness with a hint of cherries. The taste is that of a belgian dubbel with a little spiciness that builds up on your tongue and a cherry/plum flavor at the end.
