Aug. 2016: Rerate, 500 ml bottle, Cardinal pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.8%. Beautiful copper colour, moderate head, slightly off-white. Aroma of malts with toffee notes, also hints of herbal english hops. Herbal English hops in the otherwise malty flavour too, medium dry. Moderately bitter aftertaste. Nice to drink, moreish - not least for an old man like me. Original rating: Shared 500 ml bottle (bottle conditioned) at local tasting, from Prima Beer, Hobro. ABV 4.8%. Deep golden to amber colour, moderate white head. Aroma of herbal English hops, with unusual hints of juniper berries and juniper needles. Very herbal hops in the medium dry flavour, highly drinkable. One of the few beers of the tasting where I wanted to drink the whole bottle. Will buy again.

Personally, I wouldn’t consider this an old ale. Maybe more like an amber or something similar. The beer pours out a ligh honey amber body, clear with an initial 3" off-white head but melts into a more manageable 1/2" head. Clumsy lacing left behind. Aroma is a bit oxidized, some light malt notes, a touch of buttered bread and cooked carrots. Flavor has some bready notes, minimally sweet with some pitted fruits coming in late. Not bad.

Bottled. Rubyish amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is fruits, earth, some herbs and mild caramelly and bready notes as well. Flavour is very similar, but the maltyness is quite much stronger.

Picked this one at a World Market store. Pours as a bright amber color. I got a big frothy off white head. Poor hang time on this one, settling into light soapy ringlets. Aroma is some sour apples and sweet caramel. The body is light and the taste has some mlt creeping through a overall watering down on the palate. Drinkable. But not all that good.

This old ale pours a medium amber gold color from a 50cl bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head. Aroma is caramel, fruity and slightly hoppy. A medium bodied old ale. Malts are caramel. slightly malty an sweet with a touch of cherry. Hops are citrusy and earthy. Nice balance. Good carbonation. It’s a very drinkable ale, a touch bland, but interesting. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

The aroma is very fruity and floral-like and very sweet with some hints of hops. The apppearance is a rich ruby red in color and very nice with a massive off-white head that is bubbly and does not discipate. The mouthfeel is full-bodied and complex with hoppy balance. The flavor is robust and strong with hints of hoppy characteristics and a nice finish that is very hoppy but off-set with malt. Overall, this is a good, solid beer that has a nice hoppy taste that is smooth and refreshing and very relaxing to drink. This is a pretty good ale in my opinion.

Pours dark brown and cloudy with a dense, lasting head comprised of tiny microbubbles. Aroma is weak, but I did note apples and oak. Medium-bodied and pretty smooth with adequate carbonation. The main flavor was apple and there was an unpleasant acidity in the aftertaste. Not my favorite,,,prehaps if I were an Old Man?

Sampled from bottle. Pours a clear ruby-brown with a thick, creamy off-white head and sheets of lacing. A rather inviting beer. Aroma is earthy and has notes of fresh fruits. Flavor is balanced with caramel malts, green apples and berries. Just a hint of hop spice in the flavor. Finishes tart. Too tart/fruity for my tastes, but overall, a good ale.
