This is an American White Oak-aged version of Jai Alai India Pale Ale. The white oak adds smoothing notes of vanilla and slight hints of dill to the aroma and flavor profile. The finish is elegantly dry due to the light tannin notes from oak aging and though still loaded with hop flavor, hop bitterness is more restrained.

Rating from 2010. On tap at Brass Tap for the last Wednesday of the month Cigar City Event (that happens every single month). It pours hazy copper with white head and some spotty lacing. The aroma is full bold knock you over oakiness and oaky spices and followed by sweet citrus candy and malt covered oak planks. The taste is just as oaky with loads of wood, spicy oak, dry vanilla bean husks and then moving into plenty of sweet malts, citrus goodness and then growing pine hops. I get lots of spice and sweetness and citrus candy.

Pours slightly hazy golden with a nice eggshell head. Aroma stands out with woody and fresh hoppy notes. Woody hops dominate the flavor while allowing malt and sweet citrus to share the stage. Mouthfeel is average in the fizz and body departments. Oak oak oak IPA!

An orange-amber colored beer with a big frothy textured, off white head rising above. There's good hang time on the head. It settles into a thick ringlet. An intense oaken nose as well as tasting. Light, effervescent, highly drinkable.

Has potential, but a tad too dry for me, like most of Cigar City's IPAs. Has that oaky/cedary taste, but that is the theme they are going for. Flavor is almost a 9 for me, lots of citrus/hops. Appearance is cloudy orange/yellow with a medium thick white frothy head...good lacing too. The Jai Alai series of IPAs are aight. Not my favorite out there, but glad to support a premium craft brewery from my home state. Still prefer their darker stuff though. UPDATED 2/18/13- This has become one of my new favorites. Still on the dry side, but not too dry as previously stated. Not sure if they changed the recipe at all....updated the flavor and overall to a 9. This is truly a gem.

wtf? bought at the same time as the regular jai, but waaaay fresher, more aromatic, more carbonated, and tastier. tropical fruit abounds in the nose and taste, with some hop bitterness and malt balance. cool, unique ipa!!
