These Maduros are some of the best brown ales that I have tried. I seem to prefer these over their IPA brews. This cinnamon oatmeal raison cookie theme is growing on me with each beer. They only had 3 of the 4-pack left (so replaced the 4th with a Jose Marti), but think I am gonna buy another 4 of this. The Cuban Espresso is all right too, but think I like this better. Maybe not as oatmealy as the straight up Maduro Brown cause of the other flavors in there. Not sure if I prefer the regular Maduro best, but this is a nice twist and flavors are fully working for me. Will be reviewing the Cuban Espresso next. Cigar City is representing Florida nicely.

Sampled at GABF on 9/16/2010. This brown ale pours a medium brown color. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, sweet and bready with a hint of raisins. A medium bodied brown ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal. Bready and sweet, hints of raisins and cinnamon. Good carbonation. Nice balance. Mouthfeel is ful and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Growler from the brewery. Looks like Maduro and all the other treatments, dark brown, thin whispy head. The aroma smells mild but nice, roasted malt, a little chocolate and a dash of raisin although it’s so subtle I wonder if I picked that up because I was looking for it. There’s no mistaking the oatmeal cookies in the flavor though. Cookies mix with toasty caramel, bakers chocolate, nuts, and some hops round it out. This really does taste like Maduro with oatmeal cookies so I think Cigar City did what they intended with this one. These Maduro treatments are fun and they’re always good but I think Maduro is best on it’s own.
