Guava Grove Ale is a Belgian ale that sees a secondary fermentation with and extended aging on Guava puree. The complex flavors imparted by both the Belgian yeast strain and the Guava are unlike anything you are likely to have encountered. This is an elegant beer that pairs well with white fish, mussels, fresh tropical fruits and earthy cheeses. It also makes a fine accompaniment to Guavaween festivities.

Rating from 2008. Pours clear gold with copper core and white head. The aroma is full of wheat notes and fruity guava goodness. The taste is very nice with a pulse of guava fruit that fades away into the finish. On the non fruit side of the flavor wheat takes hold right away and slowly gives some ground to the roasted and nutty sensation. Great flavors creating a very sessionable brew.

Pours hazy apricot with eggshell head. Aroma is not strong but promises with malty and fruity notes. Flavor is fruity and somewhat sour with malty undertone. Texture has strong fizz an OK body.

Sparkling fizzy pour, gigantic head and blanketing lacing all atop a heavily carbonated body. Fruity, with a familiar Belgian yeast component. Mildly tart, very refreshing and satisfying. Flavor never seemed to develop past the standard Belgian fruitiness and yeast trademark. Overall a nice beverage, but no wow factor aside from the appearance.

Bottle from some place unpronouceable in Oslo Norway, thanks to a rad dude from the north of norway on a stag who bought this for us to share. The bar is in a underground cellar and sounds something like this, shousbryyergeit. Anyways. Cigarette ash (no word association here I swear), sour, raspberry and white pepper. Super foamy head. Murky brown in the glass. Lots of yeast all over the beer profile. Too bad I wasnt in the mood for it as I can see the really good things going on here.

Generous sample from #KnoxBeerCrew tasting. My first Cigar City: burnt orange pour, fluffy whitish head and tons of lacing. Big tropical fruit - Guava, mangoes, citrus aromas, Belgian yeast quality, slight peppery nose, more fruits, light hops. Taste is sweet tropical with a touch of honey, spicy and yeasty, nice indeed. First good impression with Cigar City.

1 pt. 9.4 fl.oz. bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8%. Hazy deep golden colour, huge white head. Intense aroma of guava and other tropical fruits, Belgian ale yeast and mild spices. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is "Belgian", but with the unusual addition of guava. Drier than expected. Spicy / peppery finish.

i was so NOT expecting tart and sour in the aroma and flavor. what a pleasing surprise this beer was. the unique sweetness and flavor of guava played a 2nd fiddle (maybe 1B) to the tart funky belgian base. A delicious unique brew!

Sampled at GABF on 9/16/2010. This Belgian Ale/saison pours a medium orange gold color. Medium to large sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, estery and yeasty, with a whole bunch of guava. A med to full bodied saison. The malts are fruity, sweet and slightly tart. The hops are herbal. Nice spiciness and a nice guava flavor. Overall slightly tart and perhaps a little bit funky, yet balance with some nice sweetness and some spiciness, Very interesting and weird beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish sis clean and smooth. Aftertaste is tart.

A cloudy orange colored beer. A medium sized creamy textured off white head rises above. Settles fairly quickly leaving some film and a thin ringlet. The nose and flavoring are sweet malt, sour and tart fruit and in the flavor I got a hint of pepper. Not much carbonation in this one. Medium to full bodied. Some creaminess on the palate. Real nice in complexity, if nothing else.

Had this thanks to Tim and Dan at Pinocchio's. Pours light golden orange with a large white head with good staying power. Lacing isn't heavy, kinda' soapy. The nose is sour tropical fruit, spices like pepper, clove, yeast and some funk. Taste is tropical fruit, some sourness and some hops and yeast The guava is there, albeit faint. The mouthfeel is a bit on the thinner side of medium, creamy with heavy carbonation. 8% abv is certainly not what I would have guessed. Although certainly not my favorite Cigar City offering, it was interesting and I will try it again.
