Rated in March 2011. On tap Cigar City pouring very dark brown with light tan head. The aroma is sort of yeasty as well as a touch estery with fruity notes. It quickly heads into dark roasted malts, spicy black licorice, some spicy hops and then a sense of tropical fruit. The taste is roasty and fruity and spicy with hops. It picks up tropical fruit like hop flavor notes and then spicy hops seem to mix in with the citrus and tropical notes. Into the finish spicy and citrus like hop bitterness blend with some malt roastiness to create a fairly dry finish. I’m not sure what to think about this one. It lacks a bit of cohesion.
