This medium-bodied ale is characterized by its rich, malty sweetness. The interplay of five different malts provide a slight toffee and chocolate flavor profile. This is the dark beer that light beer drinkers love. A favorite of DC 101's "Elliot in the Morning" crew before, after and during Cap's hockey games. $1.01 from each pint sold will be donated to Olie (Kolzig) and Elliot's Great Saves Program.

found this beer in the back of the frig with no lable at the belmont station in portland, OR. the only clue i had was the cap, and the fact that i know brown ale when i taste it... it has a rotten taste to it, like nuts gone bad. very nature like aroma to it and a good beer to drink in the morning..

Murky reddish brown, nearly opaque, served with a decent cap. The aroma was faint, but sweet, grainy, and fruity with caramel. The flavor is grainy, nutty, woody, and yeasty right off the bat. Mildly sweet and gets moreso. Light body, overall pleasant.

Attractive dark stained mahogany or stained cherry wood. The faded khaki, melted cream head is a little on the thin side. The flavor has a faint nuttiness and possibly a bit of oxidation. Not their best beer.

Tap at the DC ChopHouse. Dark brown with a slim, scuzzy off-white head. Feint malt aroma. Some fruit, nuts and chocolate in the taste, but only just - pretty bland really.
