In our 2013 edition, subtle use of spices and orange zest bring out a refreshing and different touch to the winter beer and also make for a dry finish. The orange zest and mild coconut flavours are the first to hit the palette, closely followed by the warmth of cinnamon spices mellowed in the orange essence. Dual purpose hops finish the aroma combination adding just a touch of evergreen, perfect for this winter amber ale. Additional tasting notes : * colour / appearance : bright orange with a golden tone and lightly carbonated head. * aroma : with more than a hint of citrus on the nose, the aroma is truly complex and unique. The hop additions finish the aroma combination. * aftertaste : bitterness is accentuated from both the hops and citrus zest, as the warmth of the cinnamom spice mellows with the orange essence resulting in a dry finish. Availability : winter seasonal, kegs ( carbonated ),50 cl bottle. On your table : * serving temperature 6 - 8°C. * food pairing : makes an excellent aperitif, but subbtle enough on spiciness to double as a post meal session beer, this light colour winter brew is a must for crumbling desserts such as a cherry or apricot tart. Works brillantly with fresh cut strawberries lightly dusted in ground black pepper for the more adventourous.

March 2014: 500 ml bottle, from the Norwegian potential importer. ABV is 4.3%. Chestnut coloured beer, moderate to low off-white head. Dryish, dusty and spiced aroma, hints of coconut and orange peel. Fizzy mouthfeel. Medium dry flavour, "artificial" notes of coconut, orange peel, dust and unpleasant spices, minimal hops. Very unbalanced. Sorry, this one did not rock my boat.

500 ml capped bottle. Poured in the original O'Hara's nonick pint glass a clear and orange-amber coloured S B with a one finger creamy, dense and beige foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Active carbonation. Some lacing. The aroma is an intense blend of cinnamom, coconut and vanilla, fruity, raspberries. The flavour is powerful spicy, cinnamom, orange peels, coconut, a point of cloves, fruity, oranges and a citrus touch, toasted and caramel malts, mint leaves and a hoppy bitterness. The mouthfeel is crispy, creamy, amazing smooth and light sticky. The texture is watery. This light bodied S B has a long spicy finish. Easy drinkable, attractive and tasty, all that with a low, 4,3 % ABV ! For short, a superb Winter Spiced Ale. Good job, Sean !
