I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a big fan of the Capitol City Brewery and their products. At any point during the year they have a decent beer or two on the menu, but most of their products are a little on the average side. The one beer that stands above all down their is their Pumpkin Ale and I went in search of it this past week. Unfortunately it was not yet available, so I got to try their Nut Brown Ale offerings.
This beer has a hearty brown color to it with some reddish hues when held up to the light. The head on the beer was about a full finger thick and had a slightly off white color to it. The beer had a moderate nutty and malty aroma to it.
The beer drank pretty well and I thought it was one of the better brews that I have had from the Capitol City Brewing Company. When you first drink the beer it has a maltiness to it with a hint of sweetness. There's definitely a hint of roasted nuts in there as well. On the back end, there actually is a hint of bitterness in the aftertaste. I thought it was pretty well balanced and enjoyable. I'll definitely try this one again if I'm back down at the Capitol City Brewing Company. -

Draught at Capitol City, Capitol Hill DC. Reddish brown in color. Nutty aroma. Medium bodied. Flavour is nutty and malty. Not bad but a bit on the bland side.

red-brown colour, nut aroma, roasted nutty finish, too much carbonation
