Cameron's Dark Lager 266 4.5% ABV is a rare breed of beer that was originally brewed as a one-off draught for one of our specialty beer bars. The demand for an encore was so persistent that that we had to bottle it and share it with everyone. Specialty imported hops and dark malts result in a chestnut coloured lager with a wonderful lacy head. Taste the deliciousness of a North American Lager with the complexity of a German Schwarzbier. 341ml bottle
4.5% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
August 11, 2010
4 pack of Mixed Cameron's beers
The beer poured a translucent dark brown with reddish hints and a half inch white bubble head. The aroma was roasded malt, nuts, and some caramel. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was roasted malt, some sweetness, and a roasted bitter finish. Nothing spectacular

THis is a dunkel according to the company, and not an ale. It poured a nice deep dark brown with reddish hues on the edges. There was a small half inch tan head that had somewhere else to be because it was gone in a flash. The aroma was nutty, roasted malt, and some licorice. Not all that complex. The flavour was a bit bland...ropasted malt, licorice, maybe a tad molasses hint here and there.

Bottle: Pours a dark chestnut-cola color...lightly hazed..decent sticky tan colored cap lasts and laces the glass. Aromas of mocha, cocoa, toffee, a light blush of wet hay and earthiness. Big dose of caramel and roasted malts in the front leave a burnt toffee on toast discernment...midway there is a wee bit of complexity with some nuts and earth tones added to the sweet roast character. Finishes slowly as the metallic and burnt husk astringency tastes slowly take over...aftertaste is lightly charred bitter with some caramel. Ample Malt backbone, sturdy body, creamy mouth feel, roasty-earthy character. Certainly a well crafted Canadian dunkel with a unique character which I enjoy. smooth, flavorful, satisfying. Certainly this brewer’s best offering and the second best dunkel on the Ontario market...hope they make this a mainstay brand.

Purchased in Toronto at a LCBO. Part 3 of 3 dark brown beer that are tested tonight. This one pours a clean brown colour just like the two other brews had tonight (Black Oak Nut Brown and King Dark Lager). Its beige head is not as creamy, not as big and does not stay up as long. The lacing is therefor smaller. The nose is pretty light with dark malt. The mouthfeel is not as thin as the others, but still watery. There is a metallic touch in the flavours, with the dark malts and some brown sugar. Other than that, not much here. Was expecting so much more, being that I really like this brewery.

A reasonably nice dark ale. A warming chesnut flavouring. A very soft brown colour. Some chewy malt the taste. Mouthfeel a little over carbonated maybe. Aroma pleasent but a little empty. Like the Upper Canada Dark this might make a good introduction to the style, but nothing interesting for those with more experienced taste. Doesn't offer much on the palette, but a good start. Bottle claims it took 266 batches to get the recipe right, I might suggest trying a few more. Good, but not great.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale with a medium off-white foamy head with minimal retention. Aroma of molasses malt is quite overpowering. Taste of molasses malt are also overly present in this beer and it’s not something that I generally look for. Hops are pretty much non-existent and body is just above average. I’d say this is generally quite boring…
