Smooth Ryed has an appetizing mid-range amber color with an aroma that is derived from a pound per barrel of whole Centennial hops in the hopjack, kettled by UK Kent Golding pellets. Smooth Ryed is brewed with a variety of malts, including a spicy rye and chocolate malt.

Pretty disappointing rye ale. Not sure of age - got to the store 8 weeks ago. Definite metallic off putting edge to the aroma and flavor that kinda kills the rest. The centennial hops and rye are hidden way down there. Toasted malt and baseball bat is not so great.

Pours crystal clear copper with a fluffy, off-white head that leaves decent lacing. Spicy nose with caramel, toasted malt, and somewhat metallic. Tastes are metallic at first, then spicy, peppery rye, toasted grain, earthy hops, finishes dry while the spice lingers. Thinner body, astringency takes away from smoothness. Overall, not a real smooth ride, but decent. There are much better rye beers out there.

Comes out of the growler a pretty clear dark amber, almost a caramel color, with a very thick and rather persistent light wheat head. Strong aroma has a decided rye note with hints of pomme fruit and alcohol. Robust, distinctive flavor has rye and yeast notes plus hoppy, fruity and earthy hints. Texture is smooth, average thickness and not much fizz. Certainly worth giving a try, especially if you like rye beers.
