BridgePort worked with a number of Portland area coffee roasters to formulate its own blend specific to CAFÉ NEGRO that was then infused with the base beer during cold conditioning. The cold conditioning process helps retain subtle coffee aromas otherwise lost during boil and fermentation. CAFÉ NEGRO is brewed with the strong dark flavors of roasted barley and chocolate malt.

As soon as you pop the cap, cold coffee hits the nose .. Pours black, medium lacing from a light sturdy head .. . quite light in the mouth, but refreshing too .. . more coffee in the mouth, some light tar .. . pretty good but pretty one dimensional, but i enjoyed the heck out of it .. . I have a hobby...I have the world's largest collection of sea shells. I keep it scattered on beaches all over the world. Maybe you've seen some of it...

12oz bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a smallish light tan head that quickly goes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.

The aroma is roasted dark chocolate malts and lots of coffee with a little vanilla.

The flavor is bitter roasted malts with a little chocolate and some coffee. The finish is a bit tarry and medicinal. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth, slightly sharp carbonation.

Overall, so close to a great coffee beer. If it tasted like it smelled, it would be fantastic. As it is, it's a bit to roasted and charred for me with some off-notes in the finish. I would have liked to see more chocolate and coffee.
