Got me a very clear nice brown brew, very small light brown cap that was barely above a skim and ring and near zero lacing. The aroma is pretty good with the roasted malts but there is waaaaay too much of the signature Brewsters aroma that can be found in nearly every style that they produce...and often that annoys me. Smells on the sweet side. Faint hazelnuts. Decent aroma but once again falls short. This also seriously lacks flavour and I've sipped it slowly to give it a chance when warmer as I poured over historical maps of Operation Barbarossa in my purchace "The Historical Atlas of WWII", but nothing really changes. Tastes quite bland with some bitter qualities. It is possible that I've found a hint of licorice. I just can't nail down anything. Comes across empty. Mouthfeel was pretty much lame - some creaminess and weak bitterness is about all that is mentionable. I'd go as far as saying that the brewmaster needs to take a serious lok at the recipie and actually create an appealing beer. It is not a terrible or bad beer; it is very easy to drink but just that is highly forgettable. Save your money.

Served on tap at Eau Claire Brewster's location. The beer is a nice dark brown mahogany color, with a short light brown head. It has a slightly nutty smell with a bit of roasted malt. The flavor more of the same nutty flavor, caramel roasted malt and a touch of sweetness. Good carbonation gives a slightly better than average mouthfeel.
