The chill of a Colorado high-country winter calls for a beer with extra flavor and strength. Here it is. At over 7% alcohol, with a sturdy texture and rich flavors of caramel and chocolate, our holiday seasonal is the fermented equivalent of a good fire.

pours a dark orange amber color with a small bubbly white head which didn't last long at all. The aroma was of sour fruit, with a bit of alcohol if you got up close. A very small touch of sweetness. the taste was sweet to finish, but started off with very mild and well balanced. A hint of spice, but also traces of a chocolate. The mouthfeel was medium body, smooth, with the right amount of carbonation.

Yuck...garbage.....one of the worst winter warmers I've ever had. A dark brown pour with reddish edges and a tan head. Aroma is overly sweet with caramel and sugar (where's the chocolate written on the side of the case?). Flavour is not very well balanced, starts off sweet with caramel, and ends even sweeter. One was enough, and it was hard to give the rest away. This is beer for the homeless!

I love Breckenridge's Vanilla Porter, so I thought it would be nice to try this holiday ale due to my love of Christmas and holiday brews. The beer had great deep color and a nice beige creamy head. The aroma was roasty and nutty with hints of dark fruit and wood. The mouthfeel was thin and clean, not a thick hearty brew like I had expected. The taste was flat without the rich nuttiness and spices I have come to expect from holiday beers. Overall, this beer was good, but I feel it was more like a nut brown than a seasonal holiday beer.

Not sure if it's the late night buzz, but I am finding this beer pretty solid. Was actually expecting less based on my other Breck samples. After looking at my ratings, thought it woulda been closer to lower to mid 3's, but 3.8 is about where this is at. Has the potential to be a bit more. Some of the characteristics like flavor and overall may be high 7's, but had to round up here...as this beer deserves it. Has some peachy/apricot flavors. Reminds me of a maltier, spicier Magic Hat #9. Decent hop finish too. Could use some more carbonation for the body and head, but would possibly give up some of the smoothness that way. Missed this one during the holiday season, but picked a single up half price on clearance. Worth the try, and will look for a fresh one next Xmas season.

Amber/red color. Clear. Orange highlights aorund the bottom. Small off white head even with an agressive pour. Not much retention or lacing either. Its got that Christmas smell of ginger and nutmeg. Some cinnamon and brown sugar, but both seem to be secondary aromas. Some caramel malts are involved also. The taste provided the gingerbread, nutmeg and cinnamon. However, I obtained a sweet fruitiness. Something like orange peel and peaches. Not much bitterness is detectable. The caramel taste was pushed to the background also. Medium mouthfeel. Leaving some alcohol warmth behind. Aftertaste of the ginger. It's realatively smooth, but a wee bit watery. Thought it might be dryer. Coats the palate in an ok way. This is a pretty tasty "Christmas" beer. Not bad and worth a try. Not overly sweet as some can be. Pretty solid. Might have to watch out with the high ABV however.

A mahogany colored beer with a small soapy textured, off white head rising briefly above. The lacing left behind is the hightlight of the appearance. Gentle sticky film on the sides of the glass and a small ringlet atop the body. Let this one warm, it gets better as it does. Light nose of biscuit and spices. The same sweet malty-biscuit and spices are in the tasting. A light to light medium body, decent carbonation and fairly smooth.

Pours a translucent dark mahogany with a fine-bubbled beige head. Aroma is spicy - mainly cinnamon - and somewhat malty. Mouth-filling flavor is spicy, mostly cinnamon and cloves, with a fruity undertone and a hint of spicy hard candy. Texture is rough, lively and tingly.

Deep ruby red with a thick rich head... wow, how'd they do that!? A great blend of spices, flavor, malt, hops with a really fine texture. Sweet, but not too sweet - a real pleasure. I'm enjoying the Christmas brews this year - thanks to our "Free the Hops" campaign in Alabama. Cheers!

This was a nice cvery spiced ale. I was almost thinking that it was a red ale. Very thick and crunchy. Nice flavor and color. Very amber and great lacing. I dont like holiday ales due to the spices that are brewed into it. I was excited and hope to find this in Hawaii. It was a gift from Colorado.
