The quality of the cold brewed coffee that goes into Texas Exile is important to us. That’s why we hooked up with MA coffee roaster Barismo. These guys are as serious about coffee as we are about beer. About 33 gallons of cold brewed coffee goes into each batch of Texas Exile right before fermentation, adding the perfect compliment to the brown sugar and oatmeal flavors of this huge imperial porter. Breakfast just got a punch in the neck.

22oz bottle and on tap -
The beer pours out a pitch black body with a creamy brown head, nice staying power. Aroma is deep, roasted malts, kinda smokey...like smoked figs or something...coffee notes. Flavor is a little more bitter like an over-use of black malts. Perhaps a little too dry for my liking. Like coffee w/o any sugar...dry bakers chocolate....a long dry bitter finish. -

KnoxBeerCrew tasting. Near black pour, heavy like a stout, very tight tan head, nice lacing. Big roasted malt and black coffee aroma, very inviting, dark molasses, oatmeal. Smooth and heavy-like-a-Stout mouthfeel. Straight up dark roasted malts and black coffee flavor with oatmeal, brown sugar and molasses. Solid beer. I've had many stouts that weren't nearlyas thick and heavy as this porter. Thanks lilmiss (Aimee) for sharing this one; Worthy!

Comes out of the bottle a deep sable barely a flea’s eyebrow above black with a thick and rather persistent tan head. Smoky aroma has firm coffee and, interestingly, hoppy notes. Flavor has tones of hops, coffee and chocolate plus some woody hoppy hints. Smooth texture has good body and fizz, and some sass. Wherever you have it, a good one!
