May ushers in the coldest season of the year here in Australia and from our southernmost state comes a brilliant seasonal winter beer. Boag's Honey Porter is light treacly-brown in colour offering notes of honey toffee on the nose. A sweet beer, malty, with the honey still evident on the palate, not bitter at all and in the mouth it's all mellow creaminess. A drink to savour rather than quaff. Find a fire & some good friends

Pours a clear, copper dark amber, almost red...off-white head with nice lace. Aromas of nutmeg, P.O.R. hops, green fruit. Some fleshy, gamey, barnyard notes. Flavour of green hops, some candy-like sweetness, with spicy musky phenolics, some slight similarity to Belgian ale. Crystal malts. Apple & pear aftertaste. Nice mouthfeel. Medium bodied, medium bitterness. Slight tartness on the lips at the end. Not a bad drop.... I reckon it would go well with roast pork & all the trimmings.

Looks great like a nice glass of dark golden sparkling tree sap. Just a slight honey taste right at the back of the mouth, and has a light sweet soft aftertaste, and as teh bloke before said "A drink to savour rather than quaff"
