Some of you may know that we've named all our beers after WWII aircraft art and until this season the coffee stout was just known as "coffee stout." From here on out the Big Boss Coffee Stout will be known as ACES & ATES - the poker hand of Aces and Eights sometime referred to as a dead man's hand. For the third year in a row we have teamed up with Raleigh's expert coffee roasters Larry's Beans who have contributed their fair trade, organic certified XXX cold brew to our dark winter stout to make one of the most popular beers in our line up of seasonals. Our winter stout is brewed with ten different malts to create a complex and distinctive beer. We add organic fair-trade coffee, which is specially produced for Big Boss by coffee experts Larry’s Beans. We offer this synergistic seasonal brew for a limited time in the winter season. Get a pint of this full flavor stout while it is still available.

Pours black and thick as used motor oil with a thin tan head and some lacing. Nice toasty malts aroma with black coffee but not overdone - some molasses and burnt brown sugar too. Taste is rich but not overly bitter even with the coffee flavor. Toasted and bittersweet malts and cocoa with black coffee and the some hops bitter and a dry finish. Big black beer that is quite good and the alcohol is well-hidden.
