This is a lot more alcoholic than I was expecting. It pours a dark, dark ruby with a good khaki head. The aroma is big fig fruit and alcohol. The caramel and old fruit flavor is backed up by alcoholic heat in the back.

To quote Kramer in Seinfeld "I suck it down like Coca-Cola"
I mention this quote not only because it's a beer reference, or because this particular one is tasty enough to suck back like Coca-Cola, but also because 'Coca-Cola' would best describe it's appearence. Small bubbles, ruby in the light. A very sweet, sweet mouthfeel. Sticky as well. Excellent flavour, scotch taste present and alcohol absent. The way it should be! I let it warm a little but prefered it a little better cold. I would not have guessed this 9.5% Good malt for certain. Scotch notes come through in a sweet, nectar like aroma. A damn fine beer. -

Purchased at the Dépanneur de la Rive in Cap-Rouge, Quebec. Pours a dark colour, almost black, with red highlights. The tanned head is creamy, big and has medium retention. Its lacing is quite good all around. Aromas are nutty, with molasses, grainy malts and hints of chocolate. Half-syrupy mouthfeel. The taste is quite good. Starts off sweet and ends mildly with bitterness. In there, I found light smoke, caramel, toffee, coffee, chocolate, strong liquor and dark fruits. Quite good, but a scotch ale, I wonder. A good mix between a stout and a strong Belgian ale.

Poured a mahogany color with a light tan, sticky head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, caramel malts, smoke, nuts, cognac, maple syrup, some butterscotch, and faint alcohol as well. Smoke, chocolate and nuts in the taste, lots of smoke, dried fruits, with faint caramel, and alcohol in the finish.

Bottle: Poured a dark color ale with a huge foamy dark head with slightly better then average retention. Aroma of strong roasted malt with some lingering sweetness. Taste has a strong toffee taste bordering on molasses, which is more or less interesting. Body is about average with a slight alcohol burn at the end. Good but nothing to really write home about.
