Purchased at the Dépanneur de la Rive in Cap-Rouge, Quebec. Pours a hazy caramel-amber colour with a tanned creamy head. Retention is quite long and lacing all around glass is great. The aromas are of caramel and molasse with hop in the background. The taste starts bitter, but gets more bitter in the finish to come back down to the starting point in the aftertaste. Coffee and notes of nuts lingers also in the aftertaste. Nice and smooth. Also in the flavours is burnt wood, oranges and butterscotch. A very nice complex brew.

Absolutely a great IPA; aroma a rich caramel, candied fruits.flavor:sweet malts with which seems a lot of hopps which leaves some resinous feeling in your palate and then your asking for more. That brewery based in ST-Eustache Québec is making great brew ;a lot of "folie" from bieropholie. The only negative thing i'm gonna say about this beer is the label very ugly i must say.

I'm intimately familar with West Coast/PacNW-style IPA's, as well as the uneven IPA's that come out of New England, and the wonderous IPA's from PA, IN, MI, etc. But from Quebec? Totally uncharted territory here, mate....

Rusty-amberish in appearence -- minimal head of foam too.... Reminded me more of a Red/Amber Ale in looks than what I normally see in IPA's and Pale Ales.

Sweet malty/estery aroma -- immediately got me thinking that this more akin to Samuel Smith's IPA than anything from North America. Not that it's a bad thing, mind you..., I just tend to gravitate toward beers with more hops in the nose than the average beer.

Hits the mouth with some basic bitterness (Goldings? Fuggles? Challenger? Definately British...), but then the sweeter malt profile washes over the palate, almost entirely negating what little bitterness this may have in itself.

Now, that may sound like a negative -- and, to be honest, I would have much rather preferred to be hit upside the head with bitterness, as (what I feel) a good IPA should. But this was still an enjoyable "first beer home from work"-type of beer, with a nicely complex malt-profile and mouthfeel, and pleasant drinkability. Recommended, for a perfectly English twist to basically an American beer style.

Bottle: Poured an amber brew with a nice thick head with lasting retention. Aroma is sweet with some nice hops mix. Taste is quite dry and bitter but with a hint of sweetness that is very enjoyable. Overall, this is very good beer and a good example of the IPA style.
