La Messagère is a limpid and a crystalline pale ale. Its fine bubbles give it a delicate effervescence. Its aroma brings to mind a touch of citrus fruits. The subtle aroma of hops is revealed ever so delicately. La Messagère is here to spread the good news! Enthusiasts of gluten-free products will be delighted to learn of the availability of North America’s first gluten-free beer, brewed from rice and buckwheat. The owners of the microbrewery had become keenly aware that people affected by problems relating to celiac illness needed a beer that would answer their special requirements. Three years of research and development in this regard have resulted in an unqualified success; and we are now greatly pleased to introduce to you this completely new gluten-free beer, La Messagère.

I was not at impressed with this beer - one of two gluten free beers available at the liquor store here. It pours a pale gold colour with a thin white head, but the aroma and flavours are very weak. There is a sweetness as some have suggested, but not much else.

Not much I can say good about this beer except if your body doesn’t like gluten this won’t kill you because its gluten free. That’s a fun word to say gluten….gluuuuten it just really a fun word to say gluten. Beer is a golden color but so lightly colored actually it’s almost devoid of all color, I can’t explain it this doesn’t look like beer. What the hell I smell a strong peach sent why?!?!? This aroma is insanely sweet and the only thing I can smell is peach. Does removing the gluten from beer make it not taste like beer and more like peach juice. Gllllluuuuten…….. so much fun to say. If I didn’t know this wasn’t a fruit beer I swear I was drinking one. This brew is drinkable but I swear its not beer, I think I’ll stick to gluten beer, this non gluten beer isn’t for me. Gluten………gluuuuuten…………gllllluuuuuuuuten.. so much fun to say.

Pours out an ugly foamy quick death white cap that sits on a crystal clear borderline pale gold brew. Lots of effervesance, no retension or lacing. I guess I'm smelling buckwheat although I have no idea what that smells like! There is some citrus (closest might be lemon peel) bbhl;ob;lhkhd aaaa i just snorted the beer lol...face hurts...Smells a bit too much NOT like beer, but is not offensive. Taste is sort of wheaty and watery, rice and slight citrus. Mouthfeel is odd. This is where this beer finally got to me. Feels like it isn't beer at all. Watery and very tart. It did not take long to go flat either. Dry and lenghty sour aftertaste. Thank god for no allergies. This beer serves its purpose but should fail to gain any gluten glutten followers.

While its laudable that the beer is trying to accomidate a deprived section of the population (those allergic to gluetin) its not an outstanding beer. Very carbonated with a hint of the rise on the first few sips. Not a terrible aftertaste. This isnt an amazing beer, but at least its a step in the right direction.

This gluten-free brew pours a very pale yellow, almost white, colour with a foamy head that stays around (not too bad) and leaves a good amount of lace. The carbonation is very intense. The aromas were a bit sweet and sour, with hints of rice and grapes. The mouthfeel is very thin and the taste is mild. Slight bitterness. Not too good, but don't mind sharing one with a stay-away-from-gluten friend... from time to time.

This is good beer to drink on a hot day. This beer will please the beer drinkers that are allergic to gluten since the beer is made with rice and buckwheat. The taste is pretty sweet, I guess as result of the use of rice. Overall, I think more time has been spent on trying to reach a new market segment (gluten-free) then trying to come-up with a different tasting beer.

Poured very pale yellow with a small bubbly head. Aroma of rice, buckwheat, and some citrus even. I was surprised how much the smell of buckwheat reminded me of a regular wheat beer. As the beer warmed, I noticed a solid cidery taste to it. It was quite carbonated. I finally got to share a beer with my friend who is allergic to gluten. That was awesome!
