First Swiss beer ever. Will have more. This is great. Pours cloudy, residual yeast in botton of tulip glass. Nice, toffee colour. Kind of like a Chimay Red; however, this is actually better. Will buy a six.

This beer foamed up hugely upon decapping. I filled four glasses with foam before it died down enough to pour properly. The appearance is somewhat marred by the carbonation kicking up all of the yeast. At any rate, it pours a light brown color with an excellent, creamy head. The aroma is sweet and fruity with earthy complexity. The beer tastes similarly, a balanced sugar sweetness with notes of apricots, oranges and plums. There is also a balancing bitter herbal flavor and a good but somewhat light Belgian earthiness. The feel is smooth and creamy and drinkability is very good. Overall, it’s a fairly delicious beer.

I ordered two of these online the first bottle wasnt good at all It had a nice apperance with a thick murky brown body, similar to apple cider with a few floaters and plenty of carbonation. the aroma remined me of V8 tomato juice with vinegar, the flavor was similar. It was rather sour and not many hops to speak of. Overall i didnt like this at all, but i will try the second bottle in a few months and re-review. 4-9-09 tried second bottle, have to say i liked a little better than the first. Mostly apple in aroma and flavor and the vinegar was more muted this go around, and it was more enjoyable. raise it from a 2.7 to a 3.4

From julio’s Liqour in Mass. 2006 bottle. Pours with a slightly cloudy amber-orange body topped by a medium thick, white head with a good amount of lacing. It’s slightly sweet yet sour with a touch of grassiness. The aroma has notes of mustard. Light to medium bodied, smooth and a touch dry.

Thoroughly over carbonated, the beer starts to foam up as soon as I pop the cap, this active bottle is definitely sitting in the sink where it can foam at its leisure. I am able to get maybe two-fingers of beer in my glass with the rest being foam, including a good two-fingers above the rim of my glass. The head is a light tan color and sits on top of a reddish-pink tinged, copper colored brew that is almost brilliantly clear. The aroma is quite interesting, a mix of damp, earthy / musty notes, ripe fruit and malt. Amped up notes of red apple, plums, candied tropical fruit are offset by a mix of malt and funky notes. The malt leans toward toasted grain, crushed malt and biscuit notes while the funky notes provide an overripe fruitiness and a touch of musty funk.

Lightly sweet, but it finishes with a sharp, substantial bitterness as well as a bit of musty funkiness. The beer is quite light bodied, almost surprisingly given the perceived sweetness, though I think a lot of the sweetness is accentuated by the amped up fruit character of this brew. The fruit notes lean towards a mix of strawberries, rip melons, berries, plum and blood oranges. The fruitiness seems a bit over-ripe, which is really where the funkiness comes in to play, but there is a light, musty, damp earthiness here that contributes lightly to the flavor profile. The malt character has all but dissapeared from the flavor, probably reduced by whatever bug has dried this out.

What a strange beer, the mix of hop focus (which has clearly mellowed with age) and weird fruity funkiness (was this even intended) can be a bit confusing at times. I admit though that the two don't really get in the way of each other. While this may not be the exact vision of the brewer (though maybe it is), it is certainly an interesting, engaging and tasty brew. In the end this is definitely a hop dominated brew, especially since the malt character has been reduced so much by the "wild" bug, but I like the light funky influence.

Hazy orange colour, mediumsized white head, with stuff floating around. Aroma is sour fruits with earthy hints. Flavour is fruits, plum, slight metallicness and enourmous sourness. Pleasant!

copper-orange colour, giant creamy head, aroma of grapefruit with citric and buttery notes, some hazelnut too, a bit acidic, good malt body, very strong and tart bitterness, the finish is very long and very hoppy, dry and showing more citrusy and grapefruity notes - aggressive, disturbing and very good; there are tons of hops here !

Poured a deep copper-orange color witha nice off-white tannish head that sustained itself very nicely. The lacing was the only weak part of the appearance. The aroma was light, some caramel and almost English fruity type notes. The flavor was comparable to a Saison-Biere de Garde blend, noble hops the strongest, nice resinous and citrus bitter factor in there. Caramel malts were present with yeast in the flavor. The very last warmer sip or two did display some alcohol warmth in the aftertaste. Overall, a moderately bodied beer, really nice (almost seemed like a French/Belgian approach to an altbier). (Don't expect an IPA, but rather a strongly hopped and somewhat yeasty amber biere de garde.)
