Sam James Coffee Bar version that pours a dark brown colour with copper-ruby highlights. The head is huge, creamyish, with good retention and thick creamy lacing left. Lots of molasses, plums, dates at first in the nose, with the coffee eventually coming out. The roasted coffee grains shine at this point over the mild roasted malts, hints of dark fruits. The mouthfeel is silky, smooth, not the thickest, nor the driest. The coffee is milder in the taste, blending with the burnt barley and some light grassy-hops lingering in the finish. It gets a touch dryer near the end. Not a bad coffee stout, but nothing exceptional.

The beer pours a brownish-black colour with a creamy short-lived tan coloured head that leaves minimal lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and soy sauce. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate with a mildly bitter finish.
