Perfect for Burns night (obviously!) but also great with stews, sausages and rich onion gravy. Pale, Crystal and black malts together with rich cane sugar create this mild dark coloured beer with sweet tones of Scottish toffee and a subtly malty aftertaste. Moderate bitterness to balance comes from Challenger and Goldings hops in the brew. Malt: Pale, Crystal, Black Hops: Challenger, Goldings

500 ml bottle, as Belhaven Robert Burns Scottish Ale, bought in Denmark. ABV is 4.2%. Copper coloured beer, big and lasting off-white head. Predominantly malty aroma, but also some fruity hops and vinous notes, hints of berries, oak and honey. The flavour has notes of the same elements, but the hops are very moderate, and do not leave much bitterness for the aftertaste. Still a decent and very drinkable beer.

Quite a nice looking ale poured into the imperial pint mug.It isdark amber with a luscious bubbly/frothy light tan head.Great lacing down the glass as I drink. Aroma is of malts, quite nutty. Nice tasting ale,its quite "clean" compared to most Scottish ales, meaning the malts arent quite so upfront sweet this seems a more balanced Scottish ale..the malts being somewhat driven back by some hops. Long lasting tobacco like after taste ( nice pipe tobacco). This is quite highlycarbonated compared to your typical Scot ale..thoughit works rather well on the palate. I found this to be an excellent drinking beer, not overlly complex but supremely enjoyable.
