Whenever I am fortunate to make it back to my old stomping grounds, I usually try to head out to Boston Beer Works outside the gates of Fenway Park in Boston, MA. This past time the BBW folks had a saison on draught which caught my attention.

The beer was served in a tulip shaped glass and looked really tasty. It had a cloudy, dark orange color to it. The head was slightly off white and left some really nice lacing behind on the walls of the glass. The aroma was nicely spiced and fit well with the beer. It was almost like it had a slight citrus aroma with some cinnamon or nutmeg mixed in there.

The flavor was very interesting. The main flavor my tongue really picked up on was a ginger flavor and it left quite a tingle on my tongue. This was mixed in with a citrus body and some rather strong spiciness. I wish I knew more about spices so I could describe what was in there, but it was a nice winter warmer so I'm thinking something on the line of nutmeg or cinnamon.

Overall, this was a nicely done beer. Having not had too many other saisons, I really can't speak to comparing it to other saisons, but it was very good.
