FeBREWary celebrations for 2018 kick off with this luscious coconut robust porter, a collaboration with our friends at Weird Barrel, a craft brewery Ribeirão Preto, Brazil! Organic toasted coconut and cacao nibs from South America will add an authentic taste of the tropics to your winter with each silky sip. History & Style Splice the mainbrace! The Weird Barrel pirate-brewers dropped anchor at Beau’s last fall, and commandeered the brew deck with the mission of a collaboration with our (brew) crew. The resulting treasure for landlubbers is coconut robust porter Ninho do Corvo, Portuguese for the crow’s nest on a ship. The label art was conceived by Weird Barrel while in Canada, and then created by Beau’s in-house design. Tasting Notes Ninho do Corvo pours nearly opaque black with subtle garnet undertones and a tan foam. The aroma consists of pronounced toasted coconut with secondary impressions of cocoa and dark malt. The flavour is a rich tapestry of decadent coconut interwoven with cocoa and dark chocolate. The finish is dry with lingering dark roast coffee notes. INGREDIENTS Local spring water, organic barley malt, organic toasted coconut, organic cacao nibs, organic hops, brewer's yeast. MALTS Munich, caraaroma, carafa (all organic) HOPS Organic WGV YEAST English ale yeast

Originally rated February 2018. On tap at Pints and Quarts, tapped for our group because we asked nicely. Pours a fair size frothy tan head and has a deep dark brown appearance. Big thick sticky lacing. Aromas are sweet malt, subtle coconut notes, cocoa nibs. Flavours are also sweet, some subtle chocolate, cocoa notes. Coconut is quite noticeable but not as offensive as other beers of this type with coconut, which almost always seems to be a bit much. This one's quite enjoyable!

The one that started FeBREWary 2018 and what a good starter. Dark brown colour with light copper highlights, a creamy beige head, long lasting enough with very nice lacing. Roasted malt nose with some fruitiness, light sweetness from the chocolate malts and with hints of coconut. The taste is where the coconut shines, but not too rich, over the roasted and chocolate malts. Decent mild hoppiness in the finish. A very nice balanced porter with the coconut. Would have again (and glad they did it in a bottle as well).
