Anheuser-Busch’s newest draught -- Beach Bum Blonde Ale -- brings refreshment and relaxation to adults this summer, continuing the brewer’s popular seasonal draught program. Beach Bum Blonde Ale captures discerning beer drinkers’ attention with its rich golden color, pleasant hop aroma and slightly spicy and malty taste. This American blonde ale is brewed with the finest pale and caramel roasted barley malts and is hopped with imported Alsace and Hallertau hops, as well as Cascade hops from the Pacific Northwest. “Blonde ales are wonderfully crisp and easily drinkable, which makes them an ideal choice for a summer beverage,” said Florian Kuplent, brewmaster. “The addition of Beach Bum Blonde Ale is a nice way to conclude our first year of this program because it can be enjoyed by everyone from casual beer drinkers to beer purists who are looking for an ale with a nice balance, gentle flavor and smooth finish.” Available today through early September, Beach Bum Blonde Ale is brewed at the Anheuser-Busch Fort Collins, Colo., brewery and has 5.4% alcohol by volume. Beach Bum Blonde Ale is an ideal reason for meeting up with friends for a drink or dinner, especially because the beer complements both fine and casual dining occasions and pairs well with barbecue dishes, fresh salads and fish. “Our seasonal draught beers have generated a lot of excitement among beer drinkers who are on the lookout for what’s new and different on tap,” said Bruce Eames, innovation manager. “We’ve had tremendous success with these beers, and we look forward to continuing the second year of the program in the fall with the popular Jack’s Pumpkin Spice Ale.”

Had I known this was an A-B beer when I picked it up, I would have put it back down....and now I wish I had. There was a lot about this beer that was 'off. It pours a gold colour, very pale, with a thin white head. Aroma is weak grains, some floral hops, and a hint of metal. Flavour started of acidic, and the hops and malt never shone through with the watery composition.

It pours a light-golden with fairly-thick white-head and copious lacing. A bready aroma of caramel malts, hops, banana bread, orange-citrus, light mango, and mildly spicy. The mouthfeel is smooth, silky, and rich. Fresh flavors of caramel malts, hops, banana, citrus, mango, and mildly spicy. I'm not a big fan of Anheuser, but this is very good beer.

Poured a pale yellow with lots of bubbles The taste was generic. It wasn't much different then other AB offerings. This was truly nothing special. It is quite drinkable and thirst quenching. A decent back yard beer. A good one to offer at a neighborhood gathering.

The most attractive thing about this ale is the packaging. A clear yellow body highlights a lot of carbonation. A foamy white head on pour doesn’t stick around too long. A lacing is left behind. The aroma is weak. Some sugary malt. The palate doesn’t deliver much more complexity than that. Crisp, refreshing but then the same can be said of the cheaper crap that comes out of this brewing giant.

Appearance was nice, a hazy light gold color with decent head. Aroma was mild and not over powering. Flavor was a little thin for an ale but a little too sweet and spicy for me. I think this beer has pushed me over the edge of not particularly liking Summer Ales.

Pours a clear light amber with a nice white head and decent lacing. Good carbonation. Aromas of sweet malts and a little hops. Taste is at first a slightly sweet maltiness then a very slight hops finish. Thin but a decent summer brew.

Pretty disappointed in this beer. I was expecting a refreshing summer blonde but it tasted like I was drinking a tasteless light beer. Very nice appearance but other than that it was lacking in every other category.

The smell is of fresh oranges and ????, Has a low sized head and the lacing is abysmal to non existent... The taste is very muddled and grainy ... This was not very enjoyable and frankly the worst of the 'limited edition' seasonal brews from AB .. I will take a lemon with me if i need refreshing!

Tall 12 oz bottle (as pictured above), part of the "International Collection - Summer Beers Mixed 8 Pack" from Brandy. An "All Malt Limited Edition Seasonal Brew" born on date 13 May 07. The beer is a yellow a gold color with a thin white head that quickly fades away. The smell, though light, has some pale malt along with a light hop aroma. The taste is good. There is a nice balance of pale malt flavor and finishes with a light hop taste. The mouthfeel is light bodied with good carbonation. Clean tasting, easy to drink. This is a pretty good blonde ale. Another one designed to be light, refreshing and easy to drink.

On tap at Chili Peppers, Outer Banks NC. I have to hand it to the swillmeisters, they are at least finally coming to the realization that mass produced crap might be on the downslide. While this is by no means an extraordinary beer, it is a step in the right direction all things considered. Still a very average beer, but I was surprised to find out old AB brewed it. Rant over. By the way, this is much better than water on a hot day.
