Taking the 8.6, and using sweet caramel malt instead of grassy malt did nothingmajor toi help this beer. It is still an overpowering alcoholic beverage not fit for man nor beast

I liked the red color and didnt look to beer-like at first, since the taste to me looks like a mixture of malt+sweet caramel like. alcohol is not pronouncing and aromatic taste covers more. Sure that after two cans the sudden dizziness occurs.

I was quite surprised to see this one advertised at The Beer Store. Never would of thought these guys would bring out a red of their classic 8.6, especially that it is not advertised on their website. So, pours a brown-red colour with a big beige head that is foamy, has great retention and leaves a bit of dirty lace all over. Light carbonation and wet mouthfeel. The nose is on the fruity side with notes of nuts. Pretty much the same for the taste. Dark fruit like plum, a bit of nuts, some sweetness, with well-hidden alcohol as there are no burning. Not a bad beer at all. Easy drinkability and above average for malt liquor.

At least this was a great looking beer, with a rocky white head perhaps a single finger in depth on top of a glorious red body. And, said head did take more than a couple of minutes to drift away. The aroma was "different", being rather sweet, and this continued on with the taste. Actually, it was too sweet. Decent mouthfeel but again the sweetness make this a beer I would not seek out again. Well okay, I did have a second can, given to me by my son. Would've been criminal not to drink it. Liked it a bit more the second time, but still too much with the sweet.

A little too caramelly for me, but hey at least it hides the strong alcohol taste. I love the deep red colour, but the cap could be better. Sadly, it's actually better out of the can then the glass, which reduces it to swill stature.
