http://www.barleyjohns.com/brown-porter/ Many Porters were originally brown beers. The more black versions, which also tended to be stronger, were called Stout Porters. The term and style of Stout branched out from here. Not satisfied with a lighter beer, Porters once again slid darker, especially in the last century. This is where they diverged from Nut Brown Ales. This Brown Porter is much lighter than the Old Eight Porter, both in body and in color, while retaining a lot of the chocolate notes that people love. A lot of the smoke and roast is gone, allowing more mild carmel and cereal flavors to come out and balance this beer in a way that mimics both a porter and a brown ale. You won’t find one of these outside the UK. Malts Used: 2-row, Munich, Brown, Crystal, Chocolate, CaraStan, Special B | Hops Used: Brambling Cross, East Kent Goldings, Fuggle | Yeast: House
