Summer days and ocean waves inspired our Belgian Witbier-styled Wahoo Wheat. Brewed to be light and refreshing—with a unique citrus character that comes from adding orange peel and coriander to the boil. What gives our Wahoo Wheat—and other wheat beers—a hazy appearance is the unmalted wheat it’s made from. A special yeast contributes to this beer’s refreshing tangy flavor—quite different from the banana and clovey Hefeweizens of Bavaria. If you want to be surprised what deliciousness can come from wheat, oats and barley, try one today.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Hazy pale yellow colour, low white head. Strong aroma of banana, bubblegum, cloves and coriander. Soft mouthfeel. The wheaty flavour is mid between dry and sweet, again with notes of banana, cloves and coriander, also some citrus. Minimal hops. Refreshing and nice to drink.

Pours bubbly, somewhat hazy golden with a thick but effervescent white head. Aroma presents wheaty, citrus, and fresh malt notes. Flavor echoes the aroma, not quite as strongly, but still pleasing and refreshing. Brings a little summer into a winter day - even in Georgia. Texture delivers decent body and OK fizz. Wahoo!

Ballast Point is just amazing - an awesome brewery. They simply don't miss. I am NOT a fan of wheats, but I love fishing for wahoo, so I gave it a go. It was really nice. In fact, I would hold it up against the traditional European wheats/wits anyday. Banana, clove, soft citrusy notes. Lovely beer.

A cloudy yellow colored beer wuth a big fluffy white head. There's some hang time. Settles into a moderate ringlet. Strong aroma of wheat, oranges, bananas and spices. That same profile dominates even more in the tasting. Light, smooth and refreshing.

Another classic German Hefeweizen. Even and well done across the board. Hate to be repetitive, but banana, clove, and spice it is. Refreshing and flavorful. Solid wheat.

Bottled@Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Slightly hazy yellow colour, small white head. Aroma is wheat, fruits, some mild tartness as well. Flavour is quite much the same. A rather nice witbier, which would very well manage comparing to it's Belgian likes.

Pours out in a shady pale golden colour with a low creamy white foam. Wheat, mild cloves, some spicy coriander and lemon in the rather clean aroma. Fairly light-bodied with notes of banana-esters, mild citric fruit and yeast. Mild but lingering finish of Seville oranges, yeast, mild lemon and coriander. It’s surely tasty at the beach in San Diego but not in Stockholm in mid February. Still got some essential qualities in it.

A cloudy yellow apperance with a moderate white head. The flavor consists of lemons, apricots, and vanilla. A very nice sniffer. The flavor is pretty much what you expect from the aroma. It is a little thin on the palate but it is only 4% and probably made to be a quaffer. I enjoyed it.

UGH UGH Poured a light golden color with tons of carbonation. Aroma was of babanas oranges and yeastys. Some coriander as well. Flavor was orange wheat and after eagle said it pineapples. Whole beer tasted watered down. not a good one.

Bottle from Topps, Tempe. The pour was a clear golden color, lots of carbonation, turned cloudy when swirling and finishing the bottom of the bottle. The head was weak and thinned to near nothing, very disappointing appearance when all said and done. The aroma was oranges, some coriander, lots of banana ester type things going on, not much phenolic/peppery/clovey type notes at all. The flavor was pineapples, oranges, vanilla, banana-estery type wit/wheat notes. The mouthfeel was light, the flavor overall somewhat watery, whimpy body, too carbonated for what it had to offer too. A fairly weak shot at the style, imo.
