Wow, this beer is unusually bitter for a stout, i wasnt expecting that, but it is not a bad beer, it was worth a try and i am sure i will have it again.

Black coloured, big tan lasting, lacing foam head. Roasted hoppy aroma, nice coffee taste, bitter, hint of chocolate and orange. Good beer. (Velp 201511)

This beer exemplifies why it took me so long to appreciate stouts. Smokey, burnt coffee dominates the aroma and flavor, preventing me from picking out any other subtleties.

Strong, smoky aroma has tones of molasses, coffee and caramel plus a hint of licorice. It pours a deep sable with a fine-bubbled and somewhat fluffy light tan head. Flavor has notes of roast coffee and molasses with subtle tones of caramel and licorice, not as well-rounded as the best stouts I have tried but still worthwhile. Smooth texture has firm body but only average fizz. Overall, a decent stout if not outstanding. Give it a try.

The beer poured a solid brownish-black colour with a thin tan coloured head. Aroma was roasted malt, burnt wood, coffee, and vanilla. Mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was roasted malt, dark chocolate, and molasses. The better of the two beers I had this evening. -

This is a good stout that does a lot of things well, without going for the outrageous take on the style. A brownish black pour with a creamy brown head. Lots of roasted malt character in the aroma and flavour. Enjoyable.

It pours a non-transparent, very dark brown with thick tan head and copious lace. An aroma of coffee, chocolate, hops, citrus blend, molasses, raisin, and light spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Flavors of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, hops, orange, molasses, raisin, and spices. Very good.

Hoppy aroma, with a rocky, two-finger head and decent lacing. Medium-bodied, with bitter, hoppy flavor with hints of chocolate. Not a bad stout, but I'm not a huge fan of the bitter, hoppy variety.

12 fl. oz. bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Pitch black colour, huge tan head. Pleasant roasty aroma, notes of coffee and dark chocolate, some fruity hops, hints of wood. The flavour is moderately roasty with notes of dark malts, coffee and dark chocolate. A moderate but distinct roasty and hoppy bitterness in the finish, balanced by a moderate but sufficient malty sweetness. Good stuff.

If I could choose one word to describe this beer, it would be "overcarbonated." I poured this beer as slowly as I could and the head is still so large that only 1/2 of the be could be placed into the glass. After 10 to 15 minutes, the frothy head subsided and I could finally drink this beer. This beer smells like shoe polish and doesn't taste much better. The taste is flat and fruity. The finish is medicinal and dry. For the price ($10/6 pack) , this is one of the worst stouts that I've had.

Easily, one of the better dry stouts I’ve had in recent memory. Avery can be hit or miss with me and this beer hits pretty damned close to dead center. The pour is fantastic. Deep black body, creamy dark tan head, nice lacing..near picture perfect. Aroma is big on roasted malts, some coffee beans, black cherries, vanilla ice cream, and molasses. Flavor has some big bitter coffee/dark chocolate notes, a long lingering bitter finish (like chewing on a coffee bean). The bitterness really stays with you several minutes after drinking. Mouthfeel is very coating, slightly cloying but not bad. Fantastic beer for the style. Love the bitterness it brings.
