nice color, decent aroma . Not overpowering . The taste is ok, fullness of the beer. Not thin or watery like most. One of my first sweet stouts i do believe.

Good aroma of roasted coffee and chocolate with some burnt, bitter malt. Dark brown/black color with a constant 1/2" thick brown head and good thick lacing. Medium bodied stout, bitter and creamy. Very drinkable with a calm ease. Burnt, nutty flavors with coffee and cream along with a hint of chocolate. Mild floral hops, the beer has a nice balancing bitterness to all of the sweet and roasted malt. A good drinkable stout, nothing too hearty or over the top. Average, but it does not disappoint.

A new arrival at my local beer store, the Beer Store in Moon. Starboard Stout by Arcadia. Now that I know it’s a sweet stout, things are looking up. 12 oz brown bottle. Pop the lid and you get a real stout aroma laced with the odor of chocolate milk. Opaque blackish brown and the head is dark tan, almost brown. Lots of streaming bubbles can be seen rising on the inside of the glass. Makes me think about the streams I can’t see due to the opaqueness. Very nice initial impressions on the taste buds, a creamy roastyness that is easy to enjoy. There is some overly roasted (burnt?) bitter hints laying in wait behind the major flavors. The bitterness gradually build to leave a burned wet wood flavor scratching at the back of your throat. Nice palate and the carbonation is just about right. Very nice colorful lacing rides the side of the glass, and that brown color foam makes it fun to watch. Overall this is a decent brew, mostly because I really enjoy the sweet stout style. Not quite as good as Mackeson, Wild goose or Sammy Smiths but much better than Bells Cherry Stout. On par with Bells Double Cream and Mendicino Winter ale. Finish is not bad considering the building medium bitterness on the back of the tongue.

Bottle. Poured a clear, almost blackish brown color with a medium brown head. Good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Good mouthfeel. Flavor is almost a black licorice flavor, which I normally don't like, but not bad. Finish is coffee-like. A barely above average stout.

Poured out a healthy deep tan head on top an almost totally black beer. Decent retention, but it lacked in lacing. Aroma was also lacking with it's overall weak smell of roasted malts, coffee and hint of chocolate. Also carmelly and earthy with a touch of bitterness. Almost forgot the cherries. Taste couldv'e been better but was not bad - just doesn't live up to alot of the other US stouts floating around. It seems thin. Similar to the aroma, the roasted malts and coffee dominate with a dusty flavour and an overabundance of bitter hops, but it's too thin and a bit too sweet for my liking. Mouthfeel was thin and overcarbonated, but otherwise decent witha long bitter aftertaste. Meh.

Eclipse black color. Medium tan foamy head. Aroma is chocolate and toffee. A light to medium bodied stout. Malts are roasted, choclately and slightly sweet. Hops are slightly spicy. Very smooth and creamy. Well balanced. A very drinkable stout. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
