This is the true story of how ”Hr. Papsø on Acid” was born: One day at Amager Bryghus (Amager Brewery) one brewer said to the other: ”Damm, I hate how this Papsø dude is always so cool and controlled. Shouldn’t we do something about it?”. The other brewer answered: “Hell yeah, you’re right. Way too cool for my liking – and so tense. Listen, my mum just returned from her yearly pilgrimage to Haight-Ashbury. She brought back this small bag of local herbs, will that be any good to loosen him up a bit?”. The first brewer sniffed to the small herbal bag and said: “They sure smell funny, let’s spike up Hr. Papsø!” What happened next, nobody knows – yet… This beer was made in honor of our dear friend, Mr. Henrik Papsø, who reached 20,000 ratings in 2011 at Ratebeer.com – we thank him for his support to Amager Bryghus! A Quad aged on a port barrel. Brewed with malt, hops, candy syrup, yeast, and…

375 ml corked & caged green bottle, batch #247, from the brewery. BB date Dec. 2020. ABV is 13.2%. Cloudy dark brown colour, low beige head dies out instantly. Strong sweetish aroma of oak, malts, molasses and fusel alcohols, also notes of raisins and other dark dried fruits. Very moderate carbonation in the mouth, warming mouthfeel. The fairly sweet flavour has notes of oak, malts, fortified wine and dark dried fruits, also herbs and spices. No acidity, not much sign of brett here.

Bottled@CPH BF 2011. Hazy deep brownish amber colour, no head. Aroma is alcohol, some sweet malts, toffee and mild spices. Flavour is alcohol, toffee, caramel and some spices. Wellbalanced and has quite a sharp spicy and mildly tart edge to it.
