This ale was inspired by the Latin fruit markets of San Francisco’s Mission District. Brewed with farmhouse yeast for character, unrefined piloncillo for complexity, and a blend of ripe plums to capture the last days of our Indian Summer. Finally, it’s dry hopped with Amarillo & Cascade hops for a bright citrus peel aroma. Enjoy with flaky white fish, firm sheep’s milk cheeses & citrus infused desserts. Brewed with 1,000 lbs of organic San Joaquin Valley plums from Twin Girls Farm in Yettem, California and organic wheat from Massa Organics in Glenn County, California. 7% ABV 29 IBUs 750ml bottles

This might be one of the best beers Hermitage makes. I've yet to have to 2012 Almanac, but the 2011 was really tasty. Aroma seems much more complex than the flavor. Aroma notes of plum, black pepper, raw sugar cookie dough, with some citrus zest hanging around. Flavor notes of rose petals, plums, black pepper, light banana and just a hint of funky/acidicness. Very, very nice. -

Sampled on 1/28/2012. Bottle # 2986 (9/28/11). This saison pours a medium orange gold from a 750ml bottle. Medium sized white foamy head, with decent retention. The aroma is fruity, sweet, plums, spicy and hoppy. A medium to full bodied saison. The malts are fruity and semi-sweet. The plum flavors are prevalent, but not overly sweet. The hops are earthy and herbal. Nice carbonation. The plum flavors mix and match well with the hops. Smooth taste. Very easy to drink. A nice dry finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, dry and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly sweet and plumish.
