This beer’s name honors the rich tradition of farming in the sixteen counties of Maine. Keeping with that sentiment, we brew the beer with exclusively Maine-grown grains: Maine Malt House 2-row Malted Barley from Buck Farms, Blue Ox Malthouse 2-row Malted Barley, raw wheat from Maine Grains, and oats from Aurora Mills & Farm. Sixteen Counties has a bright, copper hue with aromas of lemon rind, flowers, and grapefruit. The first sip contains a mix of herbal hop notes, wheat cracker, and citrus. Its finish is balanced, dry and refreshing. The beer’s intentionally malt-forward flavor is meant to showcase the next generation of quality farming right here in Maine.

Taps translucent orangy amber with a thick beige head that leaves generous lacing. Aroma presents sweet fruit, raw malt, resiny hops, and a hint of butterscotch. Flavor is pure Belgian, fresh malt, sweet pomme and tropical fruit, a little hops, a bit of butterscotch and a bit of yeast. Mouthfeel offers fairly firm, smooth body and lively fizz. Sixteen counties of taste!

Purchased in Vermont, Easter 2017. Pours a hazy golden-amber colour with a creamy white cap and very good retention. Light sweet nose from the Belgian Ale yeast and oatmeal. Citrus notes and other fruity malts. This fruitiness continues in the flavours with some nice grass in the finish to give some dry bitterness. Mild spices and a soda water feel. A complex brew, but a little too rich to enjoy such a bit bottle.
