Courtesy of Degarth, thanks buddy. Pours dark brown with tan head. Poured at room temperature too, oh yeah! The aroma is fantastic with roasted dark malts split by dark fruity esters that lead into toffee and caramel candy goodness. The taste is only mildly roasted dark and caramelized malts but mostly rich sweet dark fruitiness. I get sweet Concord grape jam, sweet ripe plums, ripe cherries, some dates and a hint of raisins. The roastiness starts with hints of dark roasted malts and some mild grainy malts before the big fruity esters take over the flavor entirely. Very yummy.

Purchased at Liquor Control Board of Ontario store. The beer pours a sold dark brown colour with black edges, and thin creamy brown ring for a cap. The aroma consisted of roasted malt, caramel, molasses, and coffee. The flavour was reminiscent of the aroma with roasted malt and caramel dominated, and a bitter finish.

Pours a black color. Smell is of roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is malts, chocolate, some hops, a bit of coffee. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a quality beer.

This is a mass produced baltic porter from the region, very typical and unimaginative. I would think it's about as true to style as american pilsner beer is to actual Pils. Not a good beer and not worth the time to try. Corny, grassy and boring.

I picked this one up at Franklin's General Store in Hyattsville, MD. The store there has a decent selection of Eastern European brews so I picked up a bunch of them so that I could check off a few countries. This Aldaris Porteris is from Latvia.
As with most porters, I usually pour them into their glass and let them sit for a good 20 minutes so the flavors and aroma can mature. When I poured this into the glass there was a very dark brown, almost black, color to the beer. It had a light tan head that was thick and lumpy. It' looked really good. That head eventually dissolved to leave behind a light head across the top of the beer. The aroma is very good as well. Chocolate malts, nuts, and coffee are what you pick up in the nose.
The mouthfeel is very smooth, creamy and tasty on this one. You take one sip and it's like your mouth is filled with a velvety chocolate milk, cream, and caramel. The kicker here is the 6.8% alcohol content. No where do you even pick up on a hint of the alcohol. Very good. -

Pours a dark oak color. Head was very creamy and thick. Aroma was nuts, smoke, coffee and chocolates. Tasted very sweet, smoky, and caramels. This is my second time having it and I enjoyed more this time around.

I liked the taste of the beer, i dont have that palate of a beer judge.but this one was good to me, i think the head stayed around just long enough. And the taste i could not completely figure out. I think it was good overall though. Would recommend once , and interested in there other brands .

A Latvian Baltic Porter that came across well, but doesn't stand out. Moderate aroma, gets better as it warms but is still tame. Honey roasted nuts with sugar and syrup, malty for sure. Enticing dark brown pour with a reddish tint, huge creamy head and mild lacing. This pours like a nice dry stout. Creamy on the palate, medium bodied that finishes sweet and a touch thin. Nice malt content, flavor is mild with brown sugar, milk, and chocolate with a faint smokiness. Solid, came across as well made and it was enjoyable.

courtesy of oh6gdx - very dark, almost black colour, little unbalanced foam but leaving a nice lace; slightly toasted nose showing some licorice and cocoa; robust malt body, very tasty palate; some sweetness balanced by a fair bitterness and an even stronger saltiness; aftertaste of black chocolate, cocoa and more salty notes - deeply interesting

Smells of coffee, chocolate, sugar and malt. Pours deep ruby/brown with nearly no head. Thick and syrupy mouthfeel, very low carbonation and very thick. Quite sweet and despite the 6.8%abv it still feels forced, almost like they took a smaller porter and, well, treated it like a port, adding DME and vodka or something. On the whole, not bad, but less than inspiring.
