Pours a deep sable, not much head but that may be the way it was poured. Smoky roast malt dominates the aroma but lets notes of molasses, woody hops and licorice through. Roast malt flavor has caramel, molasses and licorice as co-stars plus a cameo of woody hops - and a definite hint of oatmeal. Firm texture is fairly fizzy. You don’t have to be a rat, river or otherwise, to appreciate this brewski!
