2457 | Avery Hog Heaven | United States | American Barleywine | 4.3
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8 The aroma is very very nice. Some oak, citrus, cherries, grapes, vanilla. The appearance is a reddish brown with almost no head. Now to the flavor. A mix of bitter, sour, and sweet all perfectly blended together. Some caramel, raspberries, citrus fruit are primarly what I am tasting. The finish is hoppy with a taste of alcohol. This one is not as sweet and cloying as other barleywines Ive tasted. This biased may come from my hophead nature of course. But overall I must say I really enjoyed this one. |

2459 | Rock Bottom Brown Bear Brown | United States | Brown Ale | 3.3
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Dark brown appearance with a moderate white head. Flavor is nutty with some roasted malts. There are some mild chocolate flavors peaking through. This is right on par with all the generic brown ales in the world. I will say that I do enjoy this style so I was not disappointed. It's a good session brown ale but it's nothing you could impress anyone with. |

2460 | Victory Moonglow | United States | Weizenbock | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Aroma is wheat, grapes, lemons, bananas and caramel. Apperance is a murky brown with a moderate off white head and fair lacing. Flavor is syrupy with a very strong grape presence. A good kick of sour fruit, banana, wheat, and tart apples. The finish is thick on the tounge with a moderate alcohol burn. A nice beer and something to be sipped on slowly. I've heard of an infection problem on the best by 8/20/04 bottles but my bottle seems fine. And if its a bacteria causing the pleasent sourness, then rock on bottle infection! |

2461 | Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Ale | United States | American Barleywine | 4.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 A reddish orange apperance with a nice head. Like the Avery Hog Heaven, this is a hoppy take on the style. Flavor is grapefruit, oranges, dark malts, and alcohol. A very "Sierra" taste which is not a bad thing. I had the '04 version and Im sure this gets better with age. But its awesome right off the bat! |

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 If you've never had a smoked beer it's quite an interesting experience. Aroma is of bacon and ham. Flavor is smoked meat. Appearance is pitch black. This is a meat lover's pizza in a bottle. Some will find this beer to be strange, but for me it was quite interesting. |

2468 | La Chouffe | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 4.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 10 | Overall: 9 This is my favorite Belgian blonde ale to date. A nice citrusy aroma and a smooth creamy citrus flavor of pears, peaches, and oranges. Hides the alcohol very well. An excellent beer. Rerate - This is even better than I previously thought, a hidden gem, I dont usually like belgian stong ales of the blonde variety but this is amazing. I want to try this with a rich chocolate dessert. WOW! |

2469 | Big River House Brand IPA | United States | IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 A good local microbrew ale. Appearance is a dark orange with a good lacing effect. Flavor is bitter with some malt present. Mostly one dimensional with the hops and bitterness overtaking the malt. Faint citrus aroma. A good brew but a little unbalanced for an IPA. Still one I will return to again. |

2470 | Stone Imperial Russian Stout | United States | Imperial Stout | 4.4
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9 2002 edition :This is one big beer. The only Imperial Stout I’ve had but this is amazing. Pours like motor oil and it has a good warming feeling to it. Despite the 10% ABV it doesnt dominate. If you like stouts dont pass this one up. It has no flaws!........2003 edition : Didn’t get it due to our bitch ass distributor!.......2004 edition : This just came in to town today. When I had the previous ’02 version this beer came as quite a shock, I had never tried an Imperial Stout before. But now I’m ready. So here it goes. Pitch black with a suprisingly small head. Flavor is quite sweet with some licorice, loads of coffee beans, some dark chocolate, smoke and tobacco. The alcohol lets you know its hanging around. Like "Hi, this beer is 10.8% and dont you freaking forget it!" There’s not a load of hops in this beer, which one may expect from Stone. If this were just a tad less sweet it would probably be perfect. 2004 edition a year later : My how this beer has changed. The rough around the edges alcohol burn of a new bottle is now gone. The sweetness and syrupy feel is toned down. The balance is great on this one after a year of aging! Try one Komrad, as the bottle states. |

2471 | Fosters Lager | Australia | Pale Lager | 2.4
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 5 Hyped up as import beer from Aussie. Well here in the US its an "import" from Canada. Slightly better than the mega macro lager but not by much. Typical lager with a slight malt profile and hint of bitterness. Otherwise just a basic lager at an inflated price. The oil cans are a decent deal but around here for $8 a six pack I can do MUCH better. Decent lager overall. |

2473 | Molson Ice | Canada | Pale Lager | 2.2
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 5 Gave this a go again for the heck of it. And old favorite, but that say nothing as my favorite used to be Miller! Faint aroma, flavor is typical of a macro beer with a hint of bitterness and some skunky stuff. This is probably a bad six pack. A decent ice beer when its not skunked. It will do. |

2474 | Stone Ruination IPA | United States | Imperial IPA | 5.0
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 10 | Overall: 10 Wow I have become a total hophead. Stone IPA used to be my favorite but now I think this one is the winner. Bitter is an understatement with this gem. A big ol freaking pine, orange, perfume, grapefruit aroma. Dear lord this and regular IPA are perfect in the aroma dept. It pours a deep orange color with a moderate head. The flavor is orange peels, a bottle of pine perfume, lemons, and some bitter ass hops. I could live off this stuff. The aftertaste is somewhat creamy and sweet but BITTER as well. I am worthy of the 100 IBUs beoch. Perfect on ya! |
