Temporary review, as BeerPal previously did not allow sake - of the beer rating websites, only RateBeer allowed it. This is the standard cheap sake that you'll find in "Japanese" restaurants in the US and Europe. Flavour of boiled rice, a hint of salt and mushrooms.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.8%. Opaque pale yellow colour, large white head. Aroma of peaches, pineapple, papaya and guava. The flavour is not too sweet, but has notes of said fruits, also citrus, with distinct juniper wood and resin in the moderately bitter finish.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettutikken. ABV is 8.0%. Cloudy yellow colour, moderate white head. Aroma of citrus and tropical fruits, hints of pine and spruce. Excellent flavour of said fruits, not too sweet, distinct notes of pine and spruce, good bitterness. Might well buy again.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.3%. Moderately hazy orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma of a plethora of yellow stonefruits, citrus fruits and tropical fruits. Juicy flavour with notes of said fruits, but you still get a notion that you are drinking a beer, and not your everyday breakfast juice. Also nice notes of pine, with a decent bitterness. Might well buy again.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8.0%. Murky greyish-brownish-yellow colour, moderate white head. Aroma of yellow stonefruits, citrus, tropical fruits, spruce and pine. Flavour with the same elements, particularly over-ripe peaches, papaya, guava and sprucetips.

Malty aroma, notes of brown bread and wort. Thin mouthfeel. The flavour is malty and slightly acidic, notes of brown bread again. (Probably from bottle, bought in a Swedish grocery store.)

330 ml can, from Joker Vatlandsvåg. ABV is 4.7%. Brownish golden colour, moderate to small white head. Moderate aroma of malts and mild herbal hops. Malty but fairly dry flavour, mild herbal hops again. Not your typical "bayer" (Münchener dunkel), but nice enough to drink.

330 ml bottle, as Bådin Mørkved Stout, from the brewery. ABV is 5.2%, IBU 28. Black colour, moderate to small beige head. Aroma of lightly roasted malts, sour mash, hints of mild coffee and chocolate. Citric and sourish mouthfeel. The flavour has some roast and sourish malts, notes of mild coffee. Not very interesting.

330 ml bottle, as Bådin Tussvatnet Juleøl, batch #094, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.2%, 24 IBU. Dark brown colour, huge beige head. Pleasant aroma of dark malts, caramel and Christmas spices. Moderately sweet flavour, spicy, caramel, dark malts. Not much hops.

Shared 330 ml bottle. Cloudy golden colour. Moderate aroma of fruity hops. Flavour of mango and passion fruit, but not very sweet. Medium bitter finish.

330 ml bottle, Lot #278, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%, IBU 67. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Surprisingly moderate aroma of hops and dust. The flavour has also notes of "dusty" hops, one-dimensional, without the complexity I expect from Mosaic hops. Medium bitter finish. Won't buy again.

The flavour has the same elements, but is not too sweet. Also notes of dark dried fruits and moderate bittering hops. Enjoyable.

May 2014: 350 ml can, ABV 7%, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Golden colour, moderate white head. Fairly moderate aroma for an IPA, some fruity and piney hops, a hint of caramel. The flavour however is distinctly hoppy, with a solid bitterness from start to finish. Grapefruity and piney notes. Some malty sweetness, but not too much. The amount of bittering hops seems just right, but they could have added the aroma hops more liberally.

May 2014: 350 ml can, ABV 4.5%. Will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Pale yellow colour, almost crystal clear, appears to be filtered. Moderate to low white head. Strong aroma of orange peel and coriander, also banana and cloves. Refreshing flavour, banana, cloves, coriander and orange peel. Tastes like a hybrid of kristallweizen and witbier. A decent summer refreshment.

May 2014: 350 ml can, ABV 5.5%, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Deep golden to amber colour, moderate white head. Pleasant aroma of fruity hops, loads of exotic and tropical fruits. Refreshing flavour, not too sweet, not too dry. Moderate malts and plenty of fruity hops, but the bitterness is still very moderate. Again notes of exotic fruits. Easy drinking. Another potential "summer hit" from Japan.

May 2014: 350 ml can, ABV 5%, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Black colour, large tan head. Nice roasty aroma, notes of coffee, dark unsweetened chocolate and woodwork. Dry roasty flavour, not "robust" but nicely balanced, notes of mild coffee and burnt breadcrumbs, hint of dark unsweetened chocolate. Moderate hops. Enjoyable.
