A cloudy honey-amber golden with a nice thick head. Aroma is fruity and malty with strong banana and lemon tones. The rich wheaty flavor fairly fills the mouth, and the strong hoppy bitter undertone gives it a nice kick! It goes down smoothly with a strong alcohol bite that is more like hard liquor than beer.

It pours a dark reddish brown and is very bubbly with a nice thick head. Aroma is not strong but very malty with a hint of brown sugar or molasses - very appetizing. Flavor is rich and creamy, mainly malty with some spice undertones and a nice bite to it, and no bitterness. Smooth and yet edgy, this is a very enjoyable holiday ale.

Aroma is strong, malty, with plenty of spice hints and even a bit of an odd, rubbery odor that still was not unappetizing. It pours out a dark amber-brown, almost the color of cola with a decent head. Flavor is strong and mouth-filling, malty and quite spicy, with a touch of hops. This ale is quite smooth but has a good bite to it.

Aroma is strongly malty and yeasty with hints of banana and fruity sweetness. Color is dark brown, rather chocolaty, with a fairly persistent head. Flavor is rich and malty with a hint of sweet and some fruity and smoky undertones. Finish is smooth and lively, and has a ribbon of hop bitterness. Overall a very satisfying ale.

Color is a deep honey brown, translucent and attractive. Aroma is strongly malty with a hint of banana. Malt dominates the flavor, which has a ribbon of hop bitterness and undertones of banana and cinnamon. Texture is fairly smooth with a good bit of tingle. Finish is pleasant; malty aftertaste has a decidedly fruity tone.

Color is lighter than what I expected for a stout - dark ruby-brown and almost opaque. Aroma is rich and smoky with coffee and molasses undertones. Flavor is not as strong as other stouts I have tried but still pleasing - smoky with coffee undertones and a hint of molasses. Finish is smooth and leaves a little bitterness, but the pleasant bitterness of hops. This is one lump of coal that you won't mind finding in your holiday stocking!

How could I resist a beer with a name like this? I was delighted to see it available in Atlanta since it caused a major stink in the Northeast last year. Color is a dark red or brownish red. Aroma is delightful - it seems as if each sniff yielded a different hint or tone. I got the burnt-coffee smell that I associate with good porters and stouts, as well as hints of spice and an undertone of molasses. Flavor is not strong but pleasant, smoky, sweet overtones and hints of coffee. Finish is smooth, leaves a bit of sweet on the lips and just a whisper of hop bitterness. Not superb, but definitely worth hunting.

Aroma is weak but pleasantly malty with hints of fruit - apple or pear. Color is orangy amber with a fairly thick but not persistent head. Flavor is rich, malty and fruity, with some nutty undertones and just a hint of hop bitterness. Texture is smooth and tingly, and the aftertaste is fairly fruity with just a hint of bitter and a touch of nuttiness. Very pleasing.

I had this one before and didn't like it - but since it is from Dogfish Head I knew I had to give it another chance. Maybe the bottle I had the first time was from a bum batch. Aroma is strong and yeasty with an overtone of ginger and a whisper of sweetness. It pours a clear golden amber with a nice, fairly persistent white head that leaves some good lacing. Flavor is malty with hints of ginger, caramel and even - grass? There is also a subtle sweet touch. It is much better than I remembered. Texture is quite fizzy and lively, leaving behind a good persistent tingle and more than a hint of sweet ginger. I am so glad that I decided to revisit this beer and give it a fair shake.

AKA St. Bernardus Wit. Aroma is strong and malty/wheaty with a considerable citrus overtone, mainly lemon. Color is a cloudy, almost opaque, golden amber; head is fairly persistent. Flavor is rich and wheaty with plenty of citrus tang and a piny hops undertone. It feels thick and smooth, and leaves a lemony aftertaste, especially on the lips.
