Stone Smoked Porter (Vanilla Beans)

Beer Discussion by SLOWRUNNER77

BeerPal Notice: This topic was created for discussion of the beer Stone Smoked Porter (Vanilla Beans). Thomas, Glad you loved this beer...and glad they bottled it again. Sidebar: Is there a reason that the Coconut Espresso version of this was combined with this version? It quite obviously had different ingredients. Not sure when it was done, but I have two ratings for this beer...a 4.4 (which is valid) and a 4.3, which was for the different version that apparently no longer exists (sigh)...

Sad that DI football and basketball are really just farm teams for the pros. They should be replaced with minor leagues like baseball and hockey. That said, most student athletes are not part of the elite basketball and football programs and they are reflective of the general student population. There are a lot of athletes in non-revenue sports and smaller schools.

They disbanded for lack of quality play several years ago, but they're working on re-establishing that thing called "football." [B)] "The sun don't shine on the same dog's ass all the time." We'll be back. Like the weather, college football is cyclical.

Even more amazing!!!!! As if money (AND LOTS OF IT) isn't behind this? http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/09/us/ncaa-athletes-unc-response/index.html?hpt=hp_t3 Heck, maybe it will be interesting to play out. She sounds credible, and the absence of immediate counter data (if it exists) speaks a lot too. These are the most powerful unversities in the country, and if what she reported wasn't true, there would already be highly funded counter reports in the first place.... Very sad if she's on solid ground and all this nonsense is following.

I'm a short drive from one of the greatest (and smartest) collegiate football teams in the nation in Standford. The problem I have with college football is the big schools scheduling the small-fry school. I know why they do it. It's not entertaining in the least when you are on the outside looking in. If you're an alum, hey...the feast is on!! It's great. But when Florida St. plays Bethune-Cookman...are you f'n serious? Give me the SEC, where it's a heavyweight fight nearly every week. Sure, even those big guys play a powder-puff every now and then, but damn...week in and week out it's a slugfest. College football on the W/C is all about USC, Oregon and Stanford. I'm a SoCal/Trojan-No/Cal Stanford guy. Yeah, I'm wishy-washy when it comes to college...too many other great things out here to have just one passion.

As an alum, I am a big Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Nothing like a tailgate on game day. I love the bands, kickoffs and the whole production. My other alma maters are much smaller. Games are still fun but much more subdued. I hate when people claim to root for rival teams. So many Iowa State fans here claim to support the Hawkeyes otherwise. We don't need you. No where else besides college sports do I see this rooting for rivals.

I admit, I double-checked that I was in Non-Beer Discussion.
