The Shocking Ingredients In Beer

General Beer Discussion by CYRENAICA

Not very well written, but interesting reading nonetheless albeit full of fear mongering The Shocking Ingredients In Beer

Always liked Al Michaels. John Madden wasn't the best at staying on topic, but he knows his football (when he decides to talk about football and not a varied assortment of random tidbits) and was entertaining in that you never knew at any given time what the hell he'd be taking about. I liked Marv Albert too. Some of the other commentators I think I like could be more that I liked and respected them as coaches (ie-Bill Cower) so my opinion is tainted...

I agree, though my wife loves joe buck, he seems to drone on me after half an hour. I did like madden, but my favorite is Larry MacCarren for the packers.

Failure to distinguish between play by play and commentators has broadened this topic. I'd have a bunch more nominations if we went to the color guys! For one, yes, the pre-semi-senile Madden days were among the best. Additionally, even as an Eagles Dallas-hating fan, Aikman is quite good at it.

On radio, Bill King was the greatest...A's, Raiders, Warriors. If you've never heard of Bill King, shame on you. Ken Korach was mentored by Bill King and he's pretty damn good himself. Greg Papa (Touchdown....RRRRRRRRRAAIIDDDERS!) is part of the fabric which makes up Raider Nation. On more of a national stage, I always liked Dick Enberg for pretty much any sport. Keith Jackson is hard to top for being able to call any sport, like Enberg. Currently, I really like Mike Tirico and Kevin Harlan. The worst color commentator on TV right now...Tony Dungy/Rodney Harrison combo, and they doesn't even work the games. Brutal.

Agreed, Stout, and it all comes down to preparation. I'll add Lindsey Nelson to that short list.

Today marks 40 years behind the mike for Reds' radio play-by-play guy Marty Brennaman. Wiki lists his career highlights better than I could: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marty_Brennaman
