RIP Bobby "Blue" Bland

Non-Beer Discussion by BLUESANDBARBQ

Legend. Each time one of these Blues legends passes, a little piece of Ole Blue Lou's Blues soul dies too. Sad day. Stormy Monday

One day, I need to venture into Blues and explore. Just way too much still out there within "rock and roll" that my urges to go blues are tamed for now. Time is finite too. Is this part of an era phenomena, where it has been around just this long to see senior folks passing? Been lots of passings posted here by you in recent years, lou.

I came to the Blues via the back door. Listened to lots of Rock and Roll in the 70s. Loved the Blues-based stuff, researched the roots of the artists and the songs they covered, discovered a plethora of real Blues. Thank you Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton (funny how the 60s Blues Revival was kindled by The Brits), Foghat, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Savoy Brown, Allman Brothers, and others . Led me to George Thorogood and Stevie Ray Vaughan which led me directly to Albert Collins. Epiphany. I was hooked. Have been every since. Living in Tennessee and the South helps. When B. B. King passes it should be a National Day of Mourning. I do not look forward to that day.

Louis, someday, you and I have to get together with a beer or several, and discuss that pivotal moment, when music changed for us forever. I remember Bobby Bland mainly for this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRZCdJ4n60Q
