EPIC. Congrats Cory. Not bad for a guy who stopped reviewing for a time.

That sounds about right. The smell of tequila prevents its entrance into my mouth. More of a scotch drinker, myself.

There are several quality tequila's out there that are full of flavor, super smooth and rival some great whiskeys. Casa Noble, Casino Azul and AsomBroso are some really smooth, complex tequilas. 1921 though is one of my go-to's for price and quality.

Hornitos was recommended as a fine quality-per-dollar tequila by a liquor store proprietor. I have yet to try it. I have read up on the tequila industry, but have tried only a few brands thus far. I'm mostly a beer guy myself. I saw a passing reference somewhere in these forums, as to inviting comments from tequila-knowledgeable people? I for one would be interested in participating! [:p] Tequila blanco (clear or white tequila to us Americans) is the most popular type. Mescal is second cousin to tequila. Agave Azul is a common ingredient, but mescal can contain a variety of different agaves and still bear the 100% Agave seal. Tequila MUST be Agave Azul. The Mexican government takes this very seriously and they crack down on manufacturers who try to compromise ingredients! Mexico owns the rights to ALL "tequilas", regardless of whether they are 100% or mixto. [:D] I've seen tequila labels that read Fresh Blue Sweet Agave or some such promotion ploy. Appealing, but the wording doesn't matter! Unless "100%" and "Agave" are together, the bottle you are reading contains Mixto! [:0]

El Jimador Blanco as I find it is the best priced/quality one I have had so far. I love to sip it and taste the real agave.

Yes. I rarely drink tequila, but I do like to marinate game hens in a zip-lock bag of margarita overnight, sprinkle with a little cayenne pepper and chili powder; remove the backbone and grill. So, Cuervo is a go-to. Can't go wrong with a good Scotch.... Maker's Mark 46 is also pretty tasty in the whisky arena.

I like tequila. Tequila likes me. I usually do high end/top shelf shots. There's an old adage: One tequila, Two tequila, Three tequila, Floor. I am careful with my tequila to not let the jaguar out of the bottle and into my digestive system. I do not buy or drink cheap tequila.

Meh. Have never loved it, from the least to the better ones. Only so much in the liver budget. Rarely will I indulge. Don't even dig Margaritas.

[:I] I must admit that I've been lured away from the harsh beauty that is tequila by the very smooth Evan Williams Honey Reserve. Who'd a thunk it? [:o)]

Today I went and did what I've intended for over two years...bought a 375 ml ($16.99 locally) of Hornito's Plata (Blanco). It's the best and most expensive tequila I've drank in memory...probably the shots I did in the '70's were mixtos. [:p] This is smooth. The agave aroma and flavor are THERE. Notes of vinegar and cider, too. Coincidentally, the Mountain Brew beers I recently tried also had a cider flavor note. I guess I'm on a binge of sorts...not a drunken binge, but a sampling binge...of alcohol beverages heretofore untried? [:)] btw: My tequila tastings of recent years were Sauza Blue Silver, Sauza Blue Reposado, Pueblo Viejo Blanco, Milagro Silver, and Cabo Wabo Reposado (which was on sale). My last purchase of tequila before today was in March 2012.
