Oak aged beer, etc

General Beer Discussion by BEERCRONIC

So, I drank a bottle of Innis & Gunn Oak Aged IPA and this led me to ponder what "Oak Aged" really means. Does it imply oak chips? barrels? extract? whiskey barrels? new barrels? ground up Scott Oake? Take this as a general topic. It was odd drinking that beer and thinking that it was aged 60 days in a previously used barrel - how was this really brewed? What about other similarily aged beers? Questions, questions.....

I haven't had one in quite some time. I think I'll seek one out this weekend as well. Cheers!

17 March, opening Tournament day, St Patty's Day. I think I will indulge then. If this thread doesn't revive this site, I don't know what will. Ah, nevermind...

Everybody's favourite thread! Maybe I'll pick some up this weekend. Maybe I'll add the 4000+ reviews I have left. Maybe I'll come back in a month or so and BeerPal will be gone. Maybe........

Went to Lyons Irish Pub on St. Paddys but all they had on tap were Smithwicks and Guinness. So I was going to drink just water. But I spied a bottle of Redbreast so THAT's what I went for. Just Redbreast, no ice, no water, and certainly not any type of mixer. ANYBODY WHO DRINKS IT ANY WAY OTHER THAN NEAT IS A FECKIN' EEJIT! Discuss.
