Unfiltered means extra flavour and goodness in every glass of Velvet Fog. To ensure a perfect velvety smoothness in every sip of your Velvet Fog, be sure to "swirl" the bottle before pouring. You don't want to miss out on the unique flavour that makes Velvet Fog the unclear choice of discerning beer drinkers. A special blend of 50% wheat malt and 50% barley gives this unique unfiltered ale a distinctive hazy, golden colour and a fresh tangy character. The choice is clear. The beer isn't.

Light honey brown, nice and hazy, small cap reduced to a skim island very quickly. Aroma is ok but light….just like it should. Wheat, light vanilla (this actually might be banana but I can’t tell right now) hints of toast and mild sour citrus at the end. Taste is clean and crisp like it should be. Wheaty malt that’s smooth, watery citrus finish. Nice clean after taste nothing lingers. A tart orange flavor has shown up in the finish now. Ok beer I guess it’s just a boring style where even a really good one is just kind of bla.

Another not so great beer from the fine people at Wild Rose in Calgary. A hazy golden pour with a medium sized snow white cap. There was a modest wheat aroma backed up by a few hops. The taste was rather bland. Not as sweet as a German wheat, and not as refreshing as a Belgian wit.

Comes in a 1liter ceramic stopper bottles...advertised as an unfiltered wheat ale....You're expecting a Hefe weiss..right? Poured a cloudy light straw color, attractive puffy cap but did not stack out of the glass like a German weissbier. Aromas were subdued but pleasant....sweet gassy smells, bready malts.. not much fruit aroma. Starts with a tart pilsner-like character (citrusy, dry and effervessant) then slumped to a silky fluid body...the finish crisp and dry from unmalted wheat.... a nice lingering toasty-bready after taste. Light and very drinkable wheat infused beer . However at this price you can buy a real German weizen....have to get the price down on this one to make it a pub staple of mine.

Tried a sample of this draft, first time I have seen on tap. Light color, with cloudy, unfiltered appearance you would expect from a wheat beer. Very unique aroma - kind of sour citrus. Someone at the table described it as rotten fruit, but not sure which fruit. Taste continues this sour lemon and citrus flavor, almost a tart finish with some hoppiness. Kind of similar to Hoegarden as far as the citrus, but not a clone. Will be interested to see if the bottled version is the same.
