People sometimes describe the aromas and flavors of hoppy IPAs as “grapefruit.” Hell, why not use some then? Widmer’s brewing team used a simple IPA recipe and added a generous amount of dried grapefruit peel to the end of the boil. The aroma is a melody of citrus, with a slight spice undertone, accentuated by the use of Citra hops. The flavor is that of nice hop forward IPA with the bitterness of grapefruit.

    12oz bottle -

I had picked up a 6-pack of this for my recent camping trip up to Herring Creek. The Rotator series has been solid across the board and I was glad to see that this carried that trend. Tons of twangy citrus/grapefruit hops in the aroma and on the palate. Hop forward, minimum malt profile and the Citra hops really shine thru. Might just be one of the best examples of this hop out there that I've had. I'm pretty sure sucking this down at 6k feet doesn't hurt either.

single from HEB, opted out of the sixer for grapefruit medicine reasons .. . deep gold .. low foam, light lacing .. . nice solid grapefruit bitterness .. . session-rific feel to it, i like this but the finish is quite weak but my mom really liked it .. . . Your meatloaf will be ready in eight seconds.

Was very excited to try this because grapefruit is one of my favorite IPA flavors. What makes this beer so good is that the grapefruit prevents the beer from becoming too sweet as it warms. There is a nice level of bitterness from start to finish. Highly drinkable summer IPA!

Sampled on 6/21/2012. This IPA pours a medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, with some grapefruity and citrusy hops. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet. There is a whole lot of grapefruit and grapefruit rind flavors in this one. The hops are grapefruity, piney and citrusy. Nice carbonation. A medium bitter IPA. Interesting combination of Citra hops and grapefruit and grapefruit rinds in this beer. Very drinkable. There is a lot of linger grapefruit flavors in this beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
