To commemorate 14 years of making craft ales we decided to brew this Wheat Wine created by Braumeister Chris Wilson with brewer Jeff Musselman. This 11.8% ABV ale is silky smooth even when young, but you'll want to age some for a few years as well. This unfiltered brew is made with over 50% wheat to give it a distinctly spicy character. Enjoy it now, or if you have the patience, give it some time in your cellar. When you are ready, expect to find notes of tart wheat and honey with crisp bitterness and carbonation. This year it's in 12 oz. 4-packs in all markets. Shipments have begun to wholesalers, and most markets will have it by the end of July 2009.

May 2010 - Pour was deep straw gold color, darker than I expected but with nice head and lacing, esp. for a 11% abv. The smell was sweet alcohol and whiffs of wheat as was the flavor. Sweet, some wheat and also honey flavor, but yet it also had a fairly high level of carbonation and the right level of spicyness to keep this from being too sweet. All in all, I liked it, but wasn’t blown away.

This was the first beer like this I have had before...It was strong!!!
Smells of sugar, yeast stone fruit and honey. Pours a thick cloudy bright orange with a little head. full body that was a bit much at times. carbonation was low but finsh was smooth. Flavor was upfront alchaol with honey, sugar, apricots and earth.. I liked it... took awhile to drink.... -

Bottle: Poured a slightly hazy golden color ale with a large frothy head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of sweet malt with some nice bubblegum notes. Taste is a very nice mix between some bubblegum ester with some nice notes of wheat malt with some nice balance between sweetness and and the esters. Body is slightly fuller then average with a nice creamy texture and great carbonation with no signs of alcohol. Very well done and less harsh then most other wheat wine I have tried before.

Kinger (who supplied my beer) pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one. more time may mellow things out a bit. as it is, it's a little hot and overly sweet. there are some positives, though, and it has potential for aging. like a sweeter, stronger bavarian hefe. less clove, more citrusy hops, but pretty sweet...almost cloying but not quite. the warming effect is nice, maybe a touch overdone. splitting this would have left a better impression...a full bottle was too much at the end of the night.

Promising wheat wine, ample time in the cellar should hopefully soften this one out. Earthy yeast aroma with a fair amount of banana, red apples and glazed doughnut accents. Pours a bright golden orange with low carbonation and a swirling, filmy head that leaves little lacing behind. Sweet and dry body, highly boozy which warms the belly. It's a bit too abrasive right now and the harshness really started to show after half the bottle was gone. Lot of fruity flavors such as apricot and banana with vanilla and grass notes. Real yeasty and sugary with a dry, hot finish.
