AleSmith Decadence Anniversary Ale was originally brewed in 2005 to celebrate our first decade in business. Our brewers had such a great time creating it that they decided to brew a new style each year to commemorate our anniversary. Now, nineteen years after we started, we’re proud to present another great addition this ongoing series, AleSmith Decadence 2014 is our interpretation of a Wheat Wine Style Ale. The generous amounts of wheat used in the his beer impart a bready aroma with hints of honey, ripe fruit, and a spicy graininess. In the finish, a pleasant malty sweetness from the wheat is balanced by the addition of German and American hops. Enjoy this special brew now or age it at a cool temperature for a truly rewarding experience.

Rated in Aug. 2014. 750mL gold foiled dark green glass bottle pours with an opaque copper body that supports a tight near creamy light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a mild smooth mix of bananas and malts that have a thin edge of prune and apricot like fruity esters. Toward the end of the draw it gets into some brown sugar and booziness. The taste starts smooth fruity with thin banana, apricot, peach and pear with a dash of prunes toward midway. Into the finish it gets more banana like with some brown sugar and a bit of almost nutmeg. Pretty cool and I’m curious what a bit of cellar time might do for this.

Pours clear caramel with a fair beige head. Aroma yields caramel, bourbon, toasted malt, woody and - clove? - tones. Flavor presents bourbon, caramel, toasted malt and woody notes. Smooth, firm body has peppy fizz. Decadent indeed!

Bready and fruity sweet aroma and flavor with ample hops to help balance. Perhaps even a little spiciness from the malts. Not my favorite Decadence as the last two year’s were phenomenal, but this one hits the spot too.
