Brewed with Ethiopian Sidamo from Planet Bean Coffee in Guelph, this unique beer balances enticing cold brew coffee notes with a punch of hops. Pale gold in colour, with slight earth and subtle roast flavours blending perfectly with notes of grapefruit pith and a hint of blueberry on the finish, this beer brings two of our favourite things together. For everyone burning the candle at both ends, we give you Candle Burner Cold Brew Coffee IPA.

The beer pours a slightly hazed metallic gold with a half inch foamy white head which quickly recedes to a thin film on top. There is definitely coffee in the aroma. Along with hints of citrus, herbal hops, and biscuit malt. The mouthfeel is medium to medium-full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is a battle between the coffee notes and the citrus notes, and they aren’t playing very well off of one another. In the background the biscuit malt is going about its’ business. -

Part of Welly re-booted mix pack #5. Pours a fairly small foamy white head and has a slightly hazy orangey amber appearance. Decent sticky lacing. Lively carbonation. Earthy and herbal aromas, subtle spice and fruity notes. Flavours are light toasty malts, coffee, earth and hints of resin. Some subtle berry notes in the finish. A bit of bitterness on the palate. Slick and drying mouthfeel. Not too bad.

In the Wellington mix Pack from the LCBO. Hazy straw colour with a thin lasting white head, decent slick lacing. Well carbonated with a thin to medium mouthfeel. Strong coffee and pine aroma. Good breakfast beer due to the coffee flavour. Pine, grapefruit and grass round off a tasty beer. Not bad after 12 hr night shift.

Part of their Welly Re-Booted Mix Pack Vol. 5 pouring a slightly hazed, golden-orange colour with a frothy-creamy warm off-white head that stays quite long time and leaves fluffy creamy-foamy lace. You can smell the coffee notes at first pour. Then, the IPA hops take over. It is quite interesting to mix both. In the taste, the coffee is a little tamer with decent grassy IPA. A nice dry mouthfeel, but not too the extreme, and no hop-bomb. Again, quite interesting to say the lease. A must try.
